Zero sacks allowed to a tough D-line, gave Geno plenty of time to throw. Even Ducasse played decent besides those dumbass penalties. Looks like Howard made Mario his bitch again too. Finally, back to 09-10 and not bitching about this unit like two years ago (AKA no WFH)
Lets hope Winters and Oday can turn it on after this season and the next pro-bowl center and LG fall in our laps. He's to greatness now
if a fortune teller told us one of the teams would have 8 sacks today, everyone would've bet on the bills. Impressive showing by the line, but also appears to have been a gameplan for Geno to release the ball much earlier on his reads today.
Our offensive line deserved a game ball today. Stout pass blocking, and they opened some nice holes in the running game.
Jet OL was much better today besides the penalties. Geno had been getting killed the 1st two games today he had a lot more time to throw. Successfully pushing the ball down the field eventually opened up the run game for us. I am still concerned about our run game. But glad to see the no sacks.
Brian Costello Jets hit Manuel 16 times and sacked him 8. Bills had 2 hits on Geno and no sacks. #nyj 9:06PM EDT
The offensive line was good, but let's not be so quick to say "except for the penalties". False starts are one thing, but holding penalties are often masking sacks, or at least hits - the lineman commits the penalty because he'll get beat otherwise. Having said that, you don't get 513 yards of offense without stout offensive line play. There's no question that Smith was getting rid of the ball much more quickly this week - I wonder if it was part of the gameplan, or could it be that the game has slowed down a little for him? Probably the former, but it would be great if it was the latter to some extent.
O-Line still needs work, the new NFL requires strong guard play and Ducasse and Colon will not cut it Hopefully Winters and Campbell can be that for us
I think the biggest reason Smith didn't get sacked today is that he made his throws much faster. He had been averaging over 5 seconds per throw before, so I think his problem was holding on to the ball for too long rather than the o-line getting beaten and giving up sacks in 2 - 3 seconds. I think most of the sacks were in 7 - 9 seconds, so I think the reason Geno didn't get sacked this game was due to better/faster decision making on his part rather than better play by the o-line. It's hard to believe this is the same Mario Williams that got 4.5 sacks last week, very impressive that he didn't get any this week.
Vlad nearly got Geno killed on the S. Hill TD. I remember Mario once, when he was 1-on-1 with Cumberland, and Cumberland got called for holding. Bad Idea to have ur TE block Mario without Help in Pass Pro. Overall, pretty good game by the OL. Bills Front is overrated, imo, thou.
Geno didnt have to hold the football with no healthy CB's for the Bills. Geno's accuracy was what won the game. Just had to throw a good ball, WR's had an easy day vs Bills.
I think this is about right. Bills had no CB's and Geno put the ball on his receivers hands most of the day.
Only once, early in the game when he was being blocked by a TE. Then after Gannon mentioned his 4 sacks last week, he disappeared for the rest of the game.
