    New York Jets RB Curtis Martin's new four-year contract included base salaries of $2.5 million (2006), $3.250 million (2007), $4 million (2008) and $4.750 million (2009). The old contract called for base salaries of $6.22 million (2006), $4.352 million (2007), $5.15 million (2008) and $6 million (2009).

    6.22 mil in 2006...All the way down to 2.5, very nice.

    Does that mean they he just gave up the difference in base salaries or did they convert that to a bonus?

    Wait, does this mean he took a paycut for the next 4 years? Thats the way it looks to me.

    If so huge props to Curtis. I dont think we will ever have a player like him again.
