whats amazing is the have him in the slot to make plays like that. I hope not to see him in the rest of the game...he has 10 points minimum on his head.
nothing is going the jets way, a blatant fumble by the pats called an incomplete pass, dropped pass by gates, overruled challenge, handsfree hill dropping everything and fumbling. It's just not going well... Not to mention this defense giving up big plays left and right. Good defenses don't allow teams to run on them and they don't give up big plays, two things Rex really needs to work on, we got ran on for 2000+ yards left year, soft... Oh and this receiving corps is terrible, just awful.
i was pretty amazed at that call. was obviously a fumble. the refs knew it was a mistaken call, i think. thus the phantom hold on the pats to give the jets the ball. lost great field position though. back on topic...gates has a nervous tummy. i bet he's a beast in practice. that said, i guess they're hoping he matures with more exposure. he does have excellent skills. just needs to get his head together. i'd definitely give him a little more slack. though i have pounded the sofa a few times because of this guy. understand the frustration.
Gates Gates is as bad a receiver as I have seen in my time watching football, Geno is doing his best avoiding rush cause the OL can't project him and Gates and Hill are playing drop the ball, WTF man
Anybody recall him ever making a single reception? Serious question. He's basically here for kick off returns but the punter kicks it out the end zone. So we cant utilize him for that.
Guess you didn't watch last game Anyways, he's a 4th/5th WR that has been propelled into the #2 spot, not surprising to see him struggle.
Gates specifically has sucked, receivers overall have been soft as tissue. On two separate occassions Jet receivers (Hill & Winslow) were grabbed around the waist and put down on the ground by defenders (Edwards was one) who were giving up a lot height and weight-wise. On the other side of the ball....so many wide open NE receivers just missing one TD after another. The secondary looks like shit, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM (that means you too Cromartie). Could you imagine if Wes Welker (or even Amandola) were playing? Julian Edelman--Julian fucking Edelman!!--pretty much having his way, receiving, special teams, you name it. Spreaking of shit special team, that fuckin' ST coach gets a D-minus for that 1st half. What a piece of shit. And a great time for Robert Malone to turn into T.J. Conley. No fucking punt returner? Punt returner calling for a fair catch with nobody within 10 yards of him? Punt allowed to fall...and roll to the 5? Inexcusable.
I want to see Spadola get more snaps over this guy, can't wait for Kerley to (ideally) come back next week.
