not many QBs in our history has given us more excitement than he has during his 4 years here, but on equal ground, no QB has disappointed us as much as he did. Sanchez situation was unfortunate due to his draft position, which planted his status as a savior from day 1. He arrived with too much on his shoulders to start. With higher expectations comes bigger dissapointments. Thanks for your time here.
I bet the guy outright peaked in his second year in the NFL. He will follow in the footsteps of Joey Harrington. He will flash and once he establishes himself as the starter he will disappoint, again. He is a wonderful frontrunner but he sulks when things aren't going his way. His body language when facing adversity alone is a good indicator that he lacks the intestinal fortitude to be a field general.
Appreciate what? Mark is an awful starting NFL QB. The kid can maybe become a back up but he was in way over his head here and had 0 business starting in the NFL. Have fun backing up Gabbert next year Sanchez.
Hahahahaaa.... hilarious. The thread is dealing with Sanchez as if in memoriam. I'm sorry, I just can't get into all this man-love, peachy-keen, "I'm sure gonna miss you, man," (sniff) teary-eyed stuff. It is what it is. He's still here. My best case scenario for Mark Sanchez is, Geno continues to shine and Sanchez never has to be in competition with him again for the starting job, ever. He gets well enough to play up to his best two year performance levels and we offer him a back-up role at a considerably reduced salary. If I'm Mark, I'm seriously gonna consider that offer. I'm trying to be kind here, fellas.
I have been a Jet fan for nearly 50 Years. This organization really sucks. Poor talent evaluators. Poor coaching and a sorry ass front office. The owner is more worried about PSLs than the team. I am a Sanchez fan, sorry to see you go. The first two years were great. You were surrounded with talent. The ground and pound and some good, not great WR and TE. The Jets almost reached the promise land, not once but twice. What a run. But the great wisdom of our front office decided that the running back that created that balance in the offense was not good enough. Years three and four the running game sucked. Once you had achieved a connection with your WR's, that chemistry that is needed for players to be successful, that same front office decided that we needed some inferior quality wide outs. The offensive line was made of Swiss cheese. Thank God Hunter is gone. And let's not forget the change in OC and offensive philosophy. Lastly there is no "I" in Team, but, according to the ignorance of many, many, many, Jet fans its all your fault. I wish you well. I hope you can continue your football career in an organization that knows what they are doing, an organization with a little more class than the Jets.
Some fans definitely take stuff (players, coaches, teams, ect..)in football personally which make no sense to do so.. Anyways I always liked Sanchez as a person and truly believed he cared about putting his best out on the field for the NY Jets. Also, he provided me personally, with one of my favorite Jets seasons of all time. The 2010 season aka the season of the "Cardiac Kids" was one of my most enjoyable seasons to watch. I've never seen them fight, kick, and scratch so hard for a win and there was definitely magic or angels in the endzone for us that season. Sanchez came through big in the clutch for us there.
What a tease just like Chad. I am gonna withhold my excitement for Gino until year 3. For Chad and Sanchez, into the 2nd year, I thought we finally have our QB, I never would have thought Sanchez would become what he has become. I don't care how nice the man is,and I don't blame him for everything, but he never carried the team which is something a QB has to do once in awhile. It cant be perfect all the time guys. And this pre-season, if he just played decent and did not turn the ball over, the starting job is his without a doubt. No one to blame but himself and now its over and that's best for everyone. Thanks for 2 good years and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
He gave the franchise hope in the beginning but in the end he just wasn't good enough. Ill always give him credit for how he performed in the playoffs.
The statement "anyone could have led us to those 2 afc championship games" should be silenced, the fact is, anyone didnt, and Sanchez did. This thread's intent wasn't for debate or the bashing of a guy who (besides joe willies sb win) took the jets the farthest the jets have ever been in the post season, TWICE. Theres already a Sanchez hate thread thats over 800 pages long for that. All your hate is mis directed anyways, i guess Sanchez should have said no when they drafted him. Hmm maybe you guy should go after the people who picked and signed him instead.. Anyways, im grateful for you Mark and am happy we drafted you, who know when we'll be that far in the playoffs again..
I will thank him for the hope, and promise that he showed in his first two years. Unless a team is tailored to his talents, I doubt that he will be much of a force in the league as it is now.
Complete fabrication. Sanchez didn't lead the NY Jets to two AFC finals. He was part of the team and certainly not one of the leaders of either of those teams.
Thank you, Mark. You let us down many times, but I will never forget the great memories you've given me as a Jet fan. That win against the Pats in the playoffs is my favorite memory so far, along with that come back win over the Texans in the last minute. Good luck. Hopefully you will find success elsewhere.
fun and exciting two years with Mark and it is a shame it deteriorated so quickly afterwards. he was a good enough QB on two teams with a strong nucleus around him, but when the franchise thought and expected he would improve to be a difference maker on his own, it was obvious he is best limited to a game manager.
And what makes you think he's any better than Sanchez? Or Geno? Or Tim Couch? Or Ryan Leaf? It's a crap shoot. Tanking for any one player, even a can't miss guy like Manning or Luck, is a stupid idea. Life is too goddamn short. Thanks for the Youtube clips guys! Those were some very, very good times. Here's to hoping that Geno can bring us some more fun.
I mentioned earlier in al my other posts that he "helped" us, never that he was the main reason. When I said "led" I was just implying that he was our qb that year and was definitely part of our success by managing the games well, and helping win some for us.
Good luck mark but I dont appreciate your time with us that much. In fact everytime I realize he is not our starting QB this week I feel a swell of hope around the Jets that had been missing for years. The guy was never ranked higher than like 22nd in passing. Whats is so special about that? Some of the fans here are severely deluded. Sanchez made the Jets better about as much as Ray Lucas did.
Especially when the player does not even have to enter the draft. Peyton Manning went back to school or he would have been a Jet.
I guess I could not agree with you more. The amount of negative, nothing is good enough, bitter about everything "so called Jet fans" far and exceeds that of any other team, period. The word classy and Jet fans don't seem to go hand in hand, unfortunately.
