Agreed so far. That was a tough D to face and except for the 3rd and short wildcat calls I was pleased. I really want the wildcat to die a quick death. It's been ineffective for the past 6+ years. It may work against teams that aren't as stacked up front, though.

Our offense sucked yesterday. Of course we could not run without the threat of the threat of the pass the WC running attack sucks. That is what you get with a rookie QB and a limited game plan.

The Jets defense yesterday was great holding a high powered offense to liek 250 yards. The play calling was 100 times better than last year and made Geno look serviceable in game one but 16 points from the offense is not going to cut it.

The play book will have to be opened up then we will see how Geno does. He was ultimate game manager yesterday.

The good news is NE, Baltimore, Pittsburgh are not as near as good as last season so the Jets have a chance to make the playoffs this year if the defense plays lights out. If the offense gets on track who knows but I do not think Geno is ready to make that step yet.

    +1

Tampa's d is one of the best in the NFL so I'm not quite sure why people don't factor that little point into their opinions on how the jets played.

We need a te that can block and make plays. Our current group is one dimensional.

I think Goodson will thrive in a mm offense. we need his skill set in the lineup.

Hill was actually catching the ball, maybe he develops this yr.

Your post is a little confusing, don't know if this is sarcasm. I don't know.

    Anyway..

With that game, the offense was extremely vanilla in that game. Just because things worked our way doesn't mean the play calling was good.

That game was the game that Bilal Powell decided to come on and started to take that next step. He was really impressive in that game from what I recall.

I also remember that game being called very conservative because Sanchez was severely struggling up to that point. They only allowed Sanchez high percentage throws.

The defense and the run game was the real highlight of that game.

The play calling was still miserable to watch, he kept calling wild cat plays even though we were having great success everywhere else. It was terrible to watch.

I'm so glad the MM era is here and I never have to watch that utter crap that TS put on the field. Awful. Just awful.

dude, please stop. Youre a mess right now. You need a timeout. Call that shit, clear your head and come back to us in another thread.

Let me guess, you had 20 beers in the parking lot and you sat in the 300s?

I wonder what this thread would look like if we lost ...

MM is a huge step up over Sparano. It is a pro style offense. I'm OK with taking some pressure off Geno with the wildcat. I love the screens, which are fluid and deceptive. Geno had lanes to throw into (did he have a passes batted?), and there seemed to be open runners underneath. On the down side, our third down efficiency needs to be better (7/18), and our running game was atrocious.

Having MM there means Rex can let MM do his thing on offense, and focus his talents on the defensive side. That is going to help us as well.

I think he called a good game. The wildcat was awful, and can't understand why we are even using it. I though smith looked good enough where we didn't need to even try. Third and inches wildcat was inexcusable. Other than that, I was happy with the attacking downfield style.

I would have still made this thread, I was happy with how MM got Geno prepared...Geno didnt lose us the game, that was important. He put us in position to win it when it was 15-14

I really don't understand how people can call our offense bad. We scored 18 points with horrible field position throughout the entire game.

Not a single beer, I sit in the 10th row, and what I said was pretty much confirmed by another poster a few posts after mine. So, maybe you need to call a timeout, not a 30 either, you need a full. Or are you just not aware that throwing the ball to an RB doesn't make it a screen pass?

no, no other poster confirmed what you said. you said they didn't throw any screens. the first two posters immediately after yours disputed that, and a poster a few later simply stated we threw a couple of screen, then went away from them, before coming back to them again late in the game.

point being every person disputed your post that we didn't throw any or many.

Agree with that they definitely threw a decent number of screen passes.

I think we threw too many passes to be honest, but overall I really like how MM ran the offense. MM is known for a pass heavy offense (in terms of run/pass ratio), so it was expected.

I don't know if it is Ivory's vision or what but it seems that he runs into a wall of defenders as soon as he is handed the ball every single time. Does the offensive line not like him? lol

Well the offense scored 16. I can understand why it wasn't impressive though.

Does anyone think that MM will open the playbook a little more this week after seeing how Geno settled down in the 2H vs Tampa?

Its the one game, where the playcalling resembled what youll see this year, thats the point.

Because he is obsessed with blaming the lack of development of Sanchez on offensive coordinators, and that is the game where one offensive coordinator he blames regularly was coaching on the other side of the field, so he has to go into dumbfuck overdrive to make Schotty look terrible.

Sparano didn't call a good game, he faced a mediocre defense.

But hey, the end result makes Hobbes feel like he knows what he is talking about, which is laughable, but let the guy be delusional, because it's the only victory he has.

Good point - he didn't even congratulate Geno on his first win as a NYJ (or the Jets as a whole winning that game) - just made more excuses for Sanchez starting. It's really pathetic.

    It's time to move on.
