Unless they see him as a viable running back, which he isn't, I don't think we should reserve a roster spot for a kick returner. Since they moved kicks 5 yards up, it's just not that important. I really like Leon, but I don't think we need his returning abilities that much.
Indicates Powell/Ivory/Green might not be fully reliable as a blocking RB....Washington despite his size did a good job more often than not blocking. He can find a role as a pass catching RB/Kick Returner/Blocking RB. That would be very valuable in fact. I'd place Sanchez on the midseason IR to get Washington in fact....
I am very torn here. Like RT, I was pissed when we let him go. I was ROBA about Neon Leon, probably one of his bigger supporters. Now though, he just turned 31, pretty much a retiring age for a RB or return specialist...So as much as I'd love to have him back, I know that he wouldn't be back for more than 2 years, and I know we aren't getting to the Bowl in that time frame...so I kind of see it as pointless. I do think he's the bomb though, so whatever I guess lol.:metal:ats_suck:
I could see him working well in MM's west coast system. Goodson just took a pay cut and can't play till week 5. Ivory has looked like poo so far. Green is unproven. Why not sign leon after week 1 when we no longer need to give him guaranteed $

Loved Leon and his electric play...would be nice to have him back so I have at least one jersey I can wear that is still a current Jet!! he would be a better 3rd down back than we have currently and on punt and kick offs would be an upgrade!! Do it!!!!!!
It fits Idzik's plan. Kick the tyres on vets, only sign them if they are a significant upgrade. Otherwise keep the young players that might have major upside. I'm OK passing on a few players who can perform today in favour of guys that might be able to step it up, we're re-building.
I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank. KR's are not as significant anymore, but if he can return punts, and be effective on 3rd down, who knows.
No thanks. Like previously said, KR's impact on the game has changed since the moving of the kickoff. I would love it if it were 09 Leon Washington. Not now though. Don't believe he can contribute enough at RB.
Great for nostalgia, not so much for football. Wouldn't hate it, wouldn't love it. I'd prefer keeping Alex Green because be still has a career ahead of him, years wise. He might be able to prove something.
This could just be temporary. Goodson doesn't count against the roster until his suspension ends. They could bring in Leon for KR duties until week 5, then release him when Goodson comes back.
So the Jets shouldn't try to improve their team at all in the next 2 years since we aren't going to the SB?
