Some to look at strictly for depth purposes... G - Antoine Caldwell OT - Ryan Miller P - Zolton Mesko ???
He has enough left to start in a pinch and that's all we need. He started out last year very strong and wore down near the end. At the end of the day he was able to tally 12 starts on a playoff team. An added bonus is that he knows MM's offense.
Just from what I saw of preseason, if the Jets do take any Pats... Mesko- Surprised he got cut, but when teams use a draft pick on a punter, they usually stick. Nice leg and excellent situational punter. Most of all, a top notch person! George Winn, RB- Undrafted out of Cincy, led the Big East in rusghing last year. Lots of upside and he ran great in camp. Lost in the numbers game. I'm betting he ends up on the practice squad if he clears waivers. Marcus Forston, DT- Played well for the Pats last year and can juam up the middle pretty well. As far as the guy above mentioning Cunningham for a rushing the QB DE, Marcus Benard is probably a little better. Was a little surprised he got cut.
Great Points, I think Mesko was cut because of his salary. Sign the beast Forston is actually pretty good. I would sign him today, Guy can be a disturbance up the middle.
Vince Young is worth a look but tbh I think Simms would be the better option than Vince Young. Vince Young should have been brought in after Garrard.
Word out is that Vince cannot grasp and retain anything complicated. He needs a very simple playbook. I can definitely see the Bills bringing him back.
I‘d love a look at Mays if Cinci boots him. Guy had so much potential coming out it's at least worth seeing if he's better than Allen.
Anyone notice yet that Idzik's free agent signings have with a few exceptions been busts? Of course all his butt boys will say that they are low risk guys in the first place. I say it shows he has no eye for judging talent and the Jets have no money to burn this year no matter how allegedly "low risk" these guys are.
