    Snacks made him expendable.

I like Damon Harrisson over Garay. He seemed to be faster and stronger than Garay. I am sure Garay will find another team.

This thread title should be "Jets Cuts". I wonder why Garay and Carpenter were announced only?

I think Douzable made Garay expendable.
Garay was seeing a lot of time at End and 4-3 DT.

At the end of camp, both Snacks and Douzable stood out more, but too bad we didn't have room for a vet like Garay as well.

Our Dline is only Wilk, Rich, Snacks, Ellis, and Douzable, with Coples as a hybrid when back from injury.

Probably the right call....but we have a serious lack of vet leadership on this team.

Veteran leadership is for good teams in the middle to end of the window. The Jets are rebuilding. The veteran leadership they need on the defensive side is going to come from people like Muhammad Wilkerson, Antonio Cromartie, Dawan Landry and DeMario Davis at some point. In a few years they'll have more vets on that side of the ball. Right now they are young and inexperienced for the most part.

There are probably a couple of shockers coming for the Jets in the cuts. New GM in town with no investment in the 2009 to 2012 drafts.

Veteran leadership sets the tone for practice, inspires confidence thru experience, and shows the next crop how to be leaders themselves.
You can't rebuild w/o leaders in my opinion..

Again, not saying cutting Garay was wrong. Just pointing out the lack of vet leadership.

Good. He deserves it. Kid has played really well and he has shown that he belongs in the league.

Hayden Smith is gone, thought he was a future TE. Somewhere else now.

I would not be overly shocked if Sanchez were cut or IR'ed n light of the recent reports that the injury is more serious than previously reported and that MM would choose Geno even if Sanchez healthy. Sanchez has no spot on the team in 2014, just cut him now. We cant keep 4 QBs.

From what I saw of him, I saw nothing special, at tops he might be made an offer to join the practice squad but even that will be a stretch.

How close are we to the final 53? I haven't heard anything big other than McElroy getting cut. Simms earned the spot over him anyway.
