    I actually believe the JETS do have shot at getting that 6th seed. Too many question marks for me to make that prediction though.

    The NFC is clealry far stronger and deeper than the AFC.

    I havent been able to decide if having Andy Reid as your head coach and Alex Smith as your QB is a good thing or bad thing for that franchise.

    I actually think they'll be one of the 10 worst teams in the league. Rivers has sucked for years, and their o-line is one of the worst in the league. They have no running game. Gates' injuries have made him average-to-below average. Danario Alexander is out for the year and I think Eddie Royal almost died in practice the other day.

    On defense, they got better at LB (which isnt saying much) but their d-line is awful. And other than Weddle, their secondary sucks.

    I was trying to think of worst case scenario, and best case scenario situations for all the teams, and the AFC teams were pretty tight. Pats won't do worse than 10-6, but really won't eclipse 13-3 either. The Jaguars, and Raiders could be as bad as 2-14, but surely won't hit 7-9 or .500 etc..

    As far as the NFC, it really opened my eyes. I think a solid case can be made for any single team to miss the playoffs, and have a down year. On the flip side of that, I think literally every single team has a reason to be optimistic of a decent chance at the playoffs. I think the Eagles, and Vikings will be the worst of the NFC teams, but even they have a shot. I have a feeling it will be very, very down to the wire, week 17 multiple spots up for grabs type of excitement. To be more specific, I think the Falcons will have a down year, the Lions, and Panthers will surprise, and the 49ers, and Seahawks won't finish 1-2 in that division. One of the Rams, or Cardinals will make a bigger jump than expected.

    In the AFC it's like the favorite Broncos, and the Patriots. The Broncos are getting romped on by bad luck/injury, and the Pats are being doomed by the media which can only mean they're going all the way with our luck. Apart from them, the AFC North is gong to be the biggest crap-shoot. I want to say the Bengals, and Browns will be 1-2 but that has to be crazy talk. .. Right? Anywho, I think the Texans will let people down this year, and the Colts will go back to their Manning days, only with Luck now. I'll stop there for now.

    Anyway, I'll post actual predictions, and not just random thoughts later, I need to get to bed atm. Shit 6:30..

    AFC:

    1:Broncos (still far and away best team)
    2: Bengals(loaded and added lots of new talent; Marvin needs to put up or shut up)
    3: Patriots (will finish 10-6, but will struggle early in season)
    4: Colts (Texans had their fun, but now with a franchise QB in Luck, it's back to second place for them.)
    5: Ravens (still have Flacco and Harbaugh, but may lose tiebreaker with Bengals for division)
    6: Texans (They'll finish second as I said, and in an ironic twist, beat the Patriots and lose to the Bengals in the playoffs)

    NFC: This is far more difficult

    1: 49ers (so, so stacked. They'll win NFC West easily)
    2: Packers (Still have Aaron Rodgers...will be better against the option this year with defense.)
    3: Falcons (I think the NFC South has become tougher again with Saints back in the fold. Will lose a couple more games. Lose their playoff game too)
    4: Giants (They seem the team most likely to win the division, but I can easily see Redskins win too)
    5: Saints (Sean Payton will have the Saints with a good record again, but the defense will be difficult for Rob to fix)
    6: Seahawks (Still have a good core with Russell Wilson)

    The Chargers have some talent, but they just have zero identity and toughness in my eyes.

    Worst & Best Case Scenarios

    Alright before I start this bad boy, let me apologize for taking up so much space. Hey it's better than starting multiple threads hogging up space. .. I mean after all, we need that room for the Sanchez/Geno threads. :rolleyes:

    First up, is my Worst Case/Best Case segment. I tried to keep it reasonable, and not put 0-16/16-0 for every team. I of course could and inevitably will be wrong on some, but these are my predictions for how bad it could go, or how great it could go for the 32 teams in the league.

    • Pats 10-6/12-4
    • Jets 5-11/9-7
    • Dolphins 5-11/9-7
    • Bills 2-14/6-10
    • Bengals 6-10/12-4
    • Steelers 7-9/11-5
    • Browns 4-12/9-7
    • Ravens 5-11/9-7
    • Colts 7-9/11-5
    • Titans 5-11/9-7
    • Texans 6-10/11-5
    • Jaguars 2-14/5-11
    • Broncos 9-7/13-3
    • Chiefs 5-11/9-7
    • Chargers 4-12/8-8
    • Raiders 2-14/6-10
    • Cowboys 5-11/11-5
    • Redskins 6-10/12-4
    • Giants 6-10/11-5
    • Eagles 3-13/9-7
    • Lions 5-11/11-5
    • Bears 5-11/11-5
    • Vikings 3-13/9-7
    • Packers 7-9/12-4
    • Panthers 6-10/12-4
    • Saints 7-9/11-5
    • Bucs 4-12/10-6
    • Falcons 7-9/11-5
    • Cardinals 4-12/10-6
    • Seahawks 6-10/11-5
    • Rams 4-12/9-7
    • 49ers 7-9/12-4

    A few notes about this list:

    The teams I think are locked in to go over .500 are only the Patsies, and Broncos.

    The teams I think have no chance of even breaking .500 are just the Bills, Raiders, and Jaguars.

    I think a solid case could be made for ANY NFC team to either have a losing record OR winning record. A few of them are a little harder to explain, such as Atlanta, San Fransisco, Green Bay, and Seattle, but never forget A. Each team is an awkward QB hit away from disaster, and B. Each division is crazy competitive. That alone is 37.5% of the schedule, nearly half.

    Crazy...but just might happen... NFL Predictions

    The NFL is an ever changing world. In other professional leagues, things rarely change much over 1 years time. In the crazy world of the NFL however, things could not be more different. Due to the cap system that evens the playing field, the draft, and free agency, any team can turn things around seemingly overnight with the right amount of luck, and hard work. That's what makes this league so beautiful...well that and the short 16 game schedule that makes every game oh so important.

    Now before I begin this next segment, I just want to make clear that these are NOT my actual predictions. However in the NFL, the teams in the playoffs changes drastically just about every single year. This is a year I don't think they'll change all that much, so before I post my boring official predictions later on, I'll make a more exciting version, with picks I may slightly believe, but am not quite bold enough to follow thru with. The way the NFL works, these will probably be closer than my actual predictions. :lol:
    Anyway enough rambling. Let's get to it...

    AFC East
    1. Patriots 14-2. Everyone says they have lost so much, but they've had records like this with equal/less talent.
    2. Jets 9-7. If Geno turns the corner in the season, and the D is what we know it can be, this is possible.
    3. Dolphins 6-10. They made some nice additions, but lost a lot too, and the off-season on paper champions never work out. We as Jets fans know this well.
    4. Bills 2-14. Besides CJ Spiller, I just don't see the talent. Now their best player on D is out 6-8 weeks too.

    AFC North
    1. Bengals 12-4. They have every position set up looking real pretty. Dalton could make that last step, and the D has been underrated for years now.
    2. Browns 9-7. That D is really looking good, and "experts" are whispering. Weeden can be a great QB in the Turner system, Greg Little, and Josh Gordon are underrated, and T-Rich is a beast.
    3. Steelers 7-9. That team continues to age, and Ben is getting quite brittle.
    4. Ravens 6-10. I know they added some good players, but the losses will be too much to overcome, and they should never have let Boldin go, No Pitta, eery feeling Rice breaks down too.

    AFC South
    1. Colts 12-4. Franchise QBs mean everything today. They have Andrew Luck. /
    2. Titans 9-7. This is a franchise that doesn't stay terrible long. The OL looks nice, solid RB rotation, deep WR cast, and an improved D. Can Locker take that next step?
    3. Texans 8-8. Schaub is overrated, the RBs have been getting hurt more, and this franchise hasn't proved it can play with the top dogs yet. I smell a step back year.
    4. Jaguars 2-14. Umm..*sigh* I got nothin. They are horrible. Great job fixing everything, but the roster. During the pre-season game the other night, the commentators mentioned our old Dwight Lowery as a good veteran presence. He doesn't suck, but that alone shows what their roster is.

    AFC West
    1. Broncos 11-5. I can't even in a bold prediction set pick them to lose the division. Even if Peyton got hurt, I feel Brock could guide them to a division title. I think Peyton will stay healthy though...but the rest of the team won't. I've had this feeling long before their guys really did start going down.
    2. Chiefs 6-10. A popular pick for others, but not me. Reid is overrated, as is Smith. Over a full season, we'll see again why those guys were both replaced...and pro bowl covered as it is, that D is not too good.
    3. Chargers 5-11. Rivers has been declining slowly. Is this the year everything finally explodes?
    4. Raiders 2-14. See Jaguars.

    NFC East
    1. Cowboys 11-5. I have this odd feeling Romo will shove it in everyone's faces this year. It's just a hunch.
    2. Redskins 11-5. RG3. Got it? Oh, and the D is healthy this year now...
    3. Giants 7-9. They're going to rebound this year!...ok... 2 titles with a lot of luck made this team overrated imo.
    4. Eagles 4-12. I just don't see anything changing. Vick will get hurt. Foles will be decent. The fast pace temp will fail. Yuck.

    NFC North

    1. Lions 11-5. Yeah that D is coming along nicely huh? It was just pre-season but the front 7 looked great against New England. I know I know...they were 4-0 in the pre-season during the 0-16 year. Bush will not be a great RB, but will help the offense more than the stats show. The WR depth is better now, and a rebound season looms.
    2. Packers 9-7. It's hard to put my home team down for a measly record here, but the OL is already a concern, the WR group is very thin. The D looks improved, but every year gets slammed with injuries. It could be a playoff borderline type of year unexpectedly in this state.
    3. Bears 6-10. Cutler could play his way out of the city, the RBs could keep getting hurt, and the D could continue to get gradually worse. I have not much hope for this team.
    4. Vikings 4-12. They got very lucky last year. They have no offense outside AD. The D is average at best.

    NFC South
    1. Panthers 11-5. Newton breaks out with a full 16 games of playing at an elite consistent level? The front 7 for the D really steps up this year? I can definitely see this coming.
    2. Bucs 10-6. Need I say anything? The D was vastly improved, the whole offense is at least average, or well above it in Doug Martin's case. I hope not, but I could see a big year for Tampa.
    3. Saints 9-7. I know they have their head coach back, but the D is still terrible. Rob Ryan is terrible. I know I'll ultimately pick them for the extra games in January, but I can absolutely see this being possible too.
    4. Falcons 8-8. In a rough division, the hardest, most competitive one by far imo, if things don't bounce their way, I could see this. I don't like Jackson anymore like most, Gonzo could start falling off in his last year, the OL looks terrible, and the D could easily drop off a bit.

    NFC West
    1. Cardinals 10-6. Like the Browns pick, this one is out there. Carson Palmer was once great. I doubt he gets that back, but in this Arians system, he could get back to above average, which lets be honest...with Fitz, and that D...may be all the needs to do. The D is out to surprise.
    2. 49ers 10-6. With the RBs all getting hurt like they tend to do, Crab out until December, and injuries elsewhere already occurring, expectations that are insanely high may not be met this year.
    3. Rams 8-8. Like last year, the D will carry them, while Schotty does what we all know he does.
    4. Seahawks 7-9. The Seahawks don't have a rich history of winning. They over-accomplished last year, and suddenly they're SB heavyweights? No..no. I think they'll realistically still top the .500 marker, but I can see a bad season like this happening. I see the injuries, and suspensions. Lynch break down year? We'll see.

    AFC Seeding

    1. Patriots
    2. Colts
    3. Bengals
    4. Broncos
    5. Browns
    6. Jets

    WC. Bengals defeat Jets, Broncos defeat Browns
    Divisional. Patriots defeat Broncos, Colts defeat Bengals
    Championship. This looks familiar.. Colts defeat Patriots

    NFC Seeding

    1. Panthers
    2. Cowboys
    3. Lions
    4. Cardinals
    5. Redskins
    6. Bucs

    WC. Lions defeat Bucs, Redskins defeat Cardinals
    Divisional. Cowboys defeat Lions, Redskins defeat Panthers
    Championship. In a divisional battle, Cowboys defeat Redskins

    Draft Order
    1. Raiders
    2. Bills
    3. Jaguars
    4. Vikings
    5. Eagles

    SUPERBOWL Colts punish Cowboys.

    So there ya have it. It's out there on record, and it is against the grain. Not everything will change with my official predictions, but much of it will. TBC.

    NFL Team Name Game

    This post will be a little looser, on the comical side. It's a quick little game for the basic fans, as well as the hardcore old timers.

    I am going to jot down every team, just with different monickers. It is your job to piece the teams together with the real team. Some will be so easy that a non sports fan would get it, not quite meant to fool anyone, and some may take a bit longer, maybe some research even. I won't post the answers right now, but will with a spoiler alert warning if I am asked, if anyone cares in the slightest way. Feel free to add your own, seeing as how some of mine are down right bad.

    In random order now, here goes nothin...

    • Birds of the Sea
    • Thieves
    • "Americans"
    • Ranch Honkeys of the Wild Wild West
    • Big Scary Thunderstorm
    • Gold Diggers
    • Big Bad Billy Goats
    • Sun Burnt Pigs
    • Stealth Fighters
    • Oh My Team #2
    • Marching Relgious Freaks
    • Smelly Birds
    • Balding Birds
    • Rainforest Kittens
    • Puppies
    • Capital One Actors
    • Shark Wannabes
    • Mythology Gods
    • Blushing Birdies
    • Oh My Team #1
    • Freakishly Tall Dudes
    • Illegal Cologne
    • Mill Workers
    • Spicy Wings
    • Loud Mouth Birds
    • Oh My Team #3
    • Texan Turned Native Americans
    • Pirates
    • Color-Blind Thieves
    • Ponies
    • Oil City
    • Rough Stallions

    Some interesting things I thought of while doing this.
    • Half the league has an animal based name.
    • The Jets are the only team name that can in no way, shape, or form, be taken in context of something living.
    • There are too many Bird teams.
    • Is it just me, or are the Vikings, Raiders, Bucs, and Steelers pretty much named the same thing?
    • Some of the team names flat out make no sense for intimidating opponents, namely Dolphins/Cardinals...

    TRIVIA TIME
    Thank you for still reading these posts, those of you that have. Your reward you ask? I have a good question, that I've recently come up with, that stumps people quite a bit. Here it is...

    What are the only two cities that have TWO teams named the same thing?
    These cities get the lazy award. There is really only one right answer, but a case can be made for the second.

    Well that didn't take long.

    Yes I know it's about being the steel city. the name is a double entendre actually, so my way technically works. I had a few different names for some of the teams, but left them out. I figured 1 per team was good enough.

    Official 2013-2014 NFL Predictions

    I feel sort of like the thread ender. It's like at least half the time I post in a thread, all the action in the thread comes to a halt. :lol:

    So without further ado, here is the last post in this thread, my OFFICIAL season predictions for the 2013-2014 NFL year.

    I'll go in the same order as the guys who are no smarter than me with football knowledge at NFL.com. First up are the awards...

    MVP - Aaron Rodgers. RU - Tom Brady
    OPOTY - Andrew Luck. RU - CJ Spiller
    DPOTY - Luke Kuechly. RU - Aldon Smith
    OROTY - Gio Bernard. RU - Eddie Lacy
    DROTY - Barkevious Mingo. RU - Ziggy Ansah
    COTY - Rob Chudzinski. RU - Ron Rivera

    I don't care much to explain, these are near impossible to predict. My only note is that the "experts" are dumb. Most of them picked teams that everyone expects to be great already. Any real NFL fan knows, the person who wins COTY is a guy that took a supposed mediocre squad to a fine season.

    Here are all of the NFL.com writers pick's.

    Bold are in the playoffs

    AFC East
    1. Patriots 11-5
    2. Jets 7-9
    3. Dolphins 7-9 (I don't get all the hype.)
    4. Bills 4-12

    AFC North
    1. Bengals 10-6
    2. Steelers 9-7
    (They don't stay down long NFL experts. Nobody picked them.)
    3. Ravens 8-8
    4. Browns 7-9 (I really think they might do better though.)

    AFC South
    1. Colts 10-6
    2. Texans 9-7

    3. Titans 6-10
    4. Jaguars 3-13

    AFC West
    1. Broncos 12-4 (I'd pick them worse, but that schedule is crazy weak.)
    2. Chiefs 8-8 (I don't get all the hype.)
    3. Chargers 6-10
    4. Raiders 3-13

    ~~~
    NFC East
    1. Redskins 11-5
    2. Cowboys 9-7
    3. Giants 8-8
    4. Eagles 5-11
    NFC North
    1. Packers 11-5
    2. Lions 8-8
    3. Bears 7-9
    4. Vikings 5-11
    NFC South
    1. Saints 11-5
    2. Panthers 10-6
    3. Falcons 9-7 (I sense a down year.)
    4. Bucs 7-9 (Any other division, they are no way last. This however is the top division.)
    NFC West
    1. 49ers 13-3
    2. Seahawks 10-6
    3. Cardinals 8-8 (I can see this being totally wrong. The Rams/Cardinals have a great shot.)
    4. Rams 7-9
    Draft Order
    1. Raiders
    2. Jaguars
    3. Bills
    4. Eagles
    5. Vikings
    AFC Playoffs
    1. Broncos
    2. Patriots
    3. Colts
    4. Bengals
    5. Texans
    6. Steelers
    WC #6 Steelers vs. #3 Colts #5 Texans vs. #4 Bengals
    Divisional #4 Bengals vs. #1 Broncos #3 Colts vs. #2 Patriots
    Championship #4 Bengals vs. #2 Patriots
    Notes: I feel like the Broncos will limp in with injuries, and the Patriots will storm thru an easy conference.
    NFC Playoffs
    1. 49ers
    2. Redskins
    3. Packers
    4. Saints
    5. Panthers
    6. Seahawks
    WC #6 Seahawks vs. #3 Packers #5 Panthers vs. #4 Saints
    Divisional #5 Panthers vs. #1 49ers #3 Packers vs. #2 Redskins
    Championship #2 Redskins vs. #1 49ers
    Notes: The NFC is too competitive to predict with any real shot. I think RG3 will carry the Redskins far. I have a feeling the 49ers will have a down year, yet look at what I wrote. The Saints, and Packers don't have enough D to get far. The Panthers really could shock.
    Superbowl 49ers vs. Patriots - The Pats defense will get torn up. Final of 31 - 20
    I don't feel too strongly of the 49ers, or Patriots. So I think the most probable situation, is a surprise team from both conferences will make it to Metlife. Some of those imo could be Cincy, Carolina, New Orleans, Green Bay, or Indy.
