Yeah this sucks, its not even that big of a deal that hes going to miss 2 games, in the big picture he will take longer now to improve and progress.

A hairline fracture of a non-weight bearing structure such as a finger would be "nothing."

An ankle supporting the weight of a 290-pound elite athlete is never "actually good" let alone one that now requres a proceedure to correct.

It's not a good development but the Jets will manage ok. We're deep on the DL as it is and Coples was not looking like a LB this past month. His real utility was with his hand in the dirt rushing inside.

He'll be back at some point, with some time to absorb what the Jets have been trying to teach him over the last 6 months, and he'll contribute when that happens.

The Jets 4 man rush on passing downs is now Pace - Mo Wilk - Richardson and Barnes. That's a pretty good front to have. The 3-3-5 we'll be seeing a lot of is probably Mo Wilk - Ellis - Richardson with Davis - Harris - Barnes behind them.

    It's livable.

THIS. really depends on the location of the fracture....... in the foot is even worse though. Unfortunately I know from experience..... 5 weeks later I'm going to see another doctor tomorrow.

what the hell happened that has him out indefinitely? We cant make a tackle without having our own guys get injured. ie Revis last year

I hate the term indefinitely, it makes people think forever, but that's not the case. It just means they haven't determined an actual return date yet. He could be back in a month. We'll have to see on Tuesday. Jets have such bad luck with injuries.

It could be a lot worse. Look at the phins. Dustin Keller is done for the year.

Hairline fracture means an incomplete disruption in the continuity of the bone... Think like a stress fracture on roids, LoL... If he's getting surgery though, ur lookin at no less than 8 weeks, best case

This really is a blow ... I know the defense in general wasn't playing well, but I thought we got to see alot of really good instinct from Coples playing OLB ... definitely was some progression being made.

Damn. He was making plays all over the field on Saturday. I was really getting excited to see what sort of havoc he and Wilkerson could cause.

Walder just tweeted that Richardson told him Q is aiming for a Week 2 return. Thats encouraging.

Let's see how this progresses before we start saying he's out for the season. "Indefinitely" doesn't mean "out for season." It means they are unsure of when he will be back.

If he can get back by Week 2 as Richardson suggests, he could still have a very productive season.

It is likely the crack is somewhere in the distal non-weight bearing bone, the fibula.

This is heartbreaking to me, especially for a fan such as myself who believes we're a playoff team due to an up coming top 3-5 defensive unit. Something just tells me, this is a season ending injury. I don't like how it went from 1-2 games to now, having to wait until tomorrow for further information while being out indefinitely.

I may have high hopes for the likes of Kenrick Ellis, Sheldon Richardson, DeMario Davis and Dee Milliner but Muhammad Wilkerson, Quinton Coples, David Harris and Antonio Cromartie are my four favorite defensive players we have. And Quinton Coples is by far, the player I was most looking forward to here in 2013. Lining up all over the defensive front, rushing from the outside as our number one pass rusher. Lining up as a 3-4 OLB, 4-3 DE, standing up, in the dirt etc.

If Coples goes down for the season, I lose a lot of hope (that I once had) for not only our defense but our entire season.

Wow that is great. At this point with the "indefinitely time table", most Jets fans would be happy if he missed only half of the season. If he makes it back by week 2 that would be phenomenal.

When I saw the Richardson quote on Coples it just mentioned the Pats game as a target. I'm hoping he meant the week 2 one! Cynicism getting to me a bit.
