theres nothing sanchez can do for an extension... he's signed through 2016. what would it take for him to earn a starting spot in 2014? full season played with limited turnovers, and at least one playoff win.
I think it depends more on Genos development, where and who we draft, and who becomes available in free agency after this season. The more options we have, the better his performance will have to be to keep him. He is the laughingstock of the NFL, and I'm sure Idzik is begging for a reason to cut him loose.
To get a contract extension after 2013 Mark Sanchez would have to get cut by the Jets, signed by another team to a 1-year deal and then play the season of his career for them to take them much farther than anybody thought possible. He's under contract for 2014-2016 already. There's no extension there with the Jets even if Sanchez looks like the second coming of Aaron Rodgers this season.
Unlike you I have been a Jet fan since 1967. Just realistic and not a fan of the current team ownership and management.
If Mark Sanchez breaks every passing record in the books this year, why would they extend him if he's signed for a few more years? Now I'm changing your question to what would Sanchez have to do to convince Idzik, Rex, and company that he is the franchise QB of this team? That would require a top 5 QB year, putting up a Rodgers/Manning/Brady/Brees like performance. Means being the strength of the offense and the guiding force for them. Means being one of the top QBs in the league, not because we were hiding him (like Smith) but because we put the ball in his hands time and time again and he produced effective/efficient results.
Glad to have you here Rex Must Go. I have been a Jets fan since '80. Some find it easier to attack posters than viewpoints.
Wait...arent you the guy saying, sure Sanchez calmed down, when Suh left the game? When in fact, the only play he missed was rhe TD toss to cumberland. So, were you making shit up, or just delusional? No, you're not a hater. Which wouldnt be quite so damning, except Buttle kept pointing out that Colon was handling Suh well. Including on the throw to Winslow (24 yards) to start the drive:rofl:
and his final year would be 2016 if he even lasts that long. he would need a new contract to play on the jets during the 2017 season. there is zero point to this because no matter what he's not getting an extension. he's making 13 mill next year with over 4 mill guaranteed, over 15 the next (2015) with no money guaranteed, and I believe about 12-13mill the next season (2016) once again with no money guaranteed. once again IF he's kept on the team that long.
