you posted the near identical stats with that ... judging solely on practice stats, which is silly, it seems pretty even - no? So shouldn't the 5th year guy have created some separation? Since it's always been the OC's fault Sanchez does stupid things shouldn't he have stopped doing them? If the competition is actually as close as those practice stats then they should go with Geno without blinking an eye.
If neither guy was blowing away...yes I think you'd go w/ Geno for the upside. But for all intensive purposes..the QB has been very good based on what's reported. There have only been a handful of ints/poor practices for either of them. Given those circumstances.. I think you go w/ the veteran. When you dive deeper into it..Morningweg wants explosion..big plays...Sanchez has created many more of those types of plays in both practice & games. Geno has been more of the "Take what the defense gives you" type. Maybe under Sparano/Schotty we'd go w/ Geno..but w/ MM wanting bigger plays..Sanchez makes a lot of sense.
"intents and purposes" ... Pick-6 makes a lot of sense if Geno isn't ready. That's the only scenario where he makes a lot of sense IMO.
Sanchez has now won the battle, considering he'll start week 2 and Geno now won't most likely even play. But I'm totally fine with that. As long as Geno is in by weeks 8-9, I'm cool.
