Now that Branch is gone, who are Brady's receivers? I know that Brady is probably the best qb in the leauge and he does not need great receivers, but if he has no one and considering the Jets have a pretty solid secondary, could we realistically shut down their passing game? I am not sure because Brady's o-line protects him so well and gives him so much time to find an open receiver. What are your thoughts?
heard on ESPN that last sundays game they only had 3 active receivers...i know reche caldwell and troy brown had catches, not sure who the 3rd was...they also have daniel graham and ben watson, 2 excellent tight ends...i assume doug gabriel, who they got from oakland, will play this weekend, and i dont know chad jackson's status
Here they... your New England Patriots wide receivers!!! Troy Brown - should play Reche Caldwell - should play Bam Childress - deactivated and placed on Practice Squad; Won't play Jonathan Smith - Activated and should play Chad Jackson - our #2 pick this year; Has had hammy issues all camp and has missed virtually all TC. Is questionable for Sunday, I don't think he will play Doug Gabriel - Aquired from Oakland for a 5th round pick, has had hammy issues, is probable for the game and I think he will play. TE Ben Watson - should play TE Daniel Graham - should play ..... looking at that list, I doubt it scares any NFL team. I smell an upset in the making.
I dunno bout upset bro- Brady has a habit for making everybody around him better. We'll see- I'm just happy that people are talking about the potential of a close game after all the doom and gloom of the offseason (especially from opposition fans such as yourself!)
Wow i didn't even realize all the wide recievers they got rid of damnnnnn. But never underestimate Tom Brady.
Dude, on paper, I haven't been scared of the Pats' receiving corps since the mid-90s. That's the problem, they manage to do it without star players. But now they have a 1st round stud waiting in the wings.
well now that we got decent hbs again, i look like we can really dominate D's now with Maroney, Dillon and Faulk. run to set up the pass
As good as Brady is, he played lights out and the Patriots were .500 until they finished up strong last year. It's going to depend on the defense. The problem with not having anything around you is that you have to press and take chances, so Brady WILL throw INTs and make mistakes here and there, whereas when he has a good defense and some good players around him, he can play to minimize mistakes as much as possible. Since they won last week, maybe we get the game this week.
lol when was the lsat time Brady played 2 bad games in a row. and Gabriel is back now, Chad Jackson might b
Maybe? Their recieving corp looks pretty bad but the Pats have always beat us by dominating the line of scrimage. Ben Watson is one of the best TE in the league and they have the potential for both an explossive running game with Maroney and a ball control running game with Dillion. The only way we put serious pressure on Brady is if we get up by two scores on them and he has to throw the ball. He really hasn't had to do that against us the last couple of years.
I'll give you, reluctantly at best, the thought that the receiving corps is not the best around but I hope the running game (Maroney, Dillon and Faulk) is as good or better this week than last. Smelling an upset just because of a 'not-so-scary' receiving corps is being very shortsighted, and with the new faces playing no one knows how good the receiving corps really is. I just hope you are not inferring by your 'upset in the making' comment that the Patriots D is just as bad as the Tennessee D. If you watched the 1st half only of last weeks game against Buffalo, I would agree that the Patriots D is very suspect, but if you watched the 2nd half and still feel the same way, you were not watching the same game I was and I was in attendance at Gillette Stadium and didn't miss a play. In football, as you well know, Offense, Defence and Special Teams all comprise the TEAM that wins or loses a game. I'm not too familiar with the 2006 JETS so I'm not about to predict what will happen using the Jets/Tennessee game as guide, but I do know what the Patriots are capable of accomplishing on the field. Let's all sit back and enjoy what should be a very entertaining, injury free game. BTW, I'm glad to see Pennington back. Although playing for an opponent, I never wish ill will on any player.
