No. What would be awesome would be if he beat that miserable squid within an inch of his life for openly mocking him and his team. That's what a true leader would do. And I would support.
the guy wearing the shirt is definitely a die hard jets fan and lets be honest, this team can make you feel down from time to time. i'm sure other franchises have a shirt thats exactly the same. rex was being nice for a fellow fan and im willing to be that all the other head coaches would do the same thing. he'd look like a dick if he said no because of that shirt
The T shirt basically says "your team is a joke." Now, of course, we all know that's an accurate sentiment. But it isn't one you should want your head coach to take lightly, let alone endorse. Buddy would've taken a swing at the guy, I'll bet.
Correction : *You* would've taken a swing at the guy. Am I right? Only question is : Which guy? lol.
Rex has been unprofessional since day one. It didn't keep the team from charging deep into the playoffs with a cadre of like unprofessional players. Professionalism in an industry that makes money sensationalizing large men knocking each other unconscious and doing ridiculous child-like dances celebrating plays does not seem like a huge premium in said industry. Rex Ryan took a pic standing next to a guy wearing a shirt he thought was funny. That is the reality of this. At least he didn't fuck some guy's wife and have it publicized in the papers or get fined half a million dollars and a first round pick for cheating at his job. There are plenty of examples of "senior management guys" doing things that are far less professional than taking a pic with a fan wearing a funny shirt.
You're right, aside from the robotic behavior of his predecessor and the scared way players approached him and everything else, it's like he is the same guy.
I've seen that shirt at the lots during the tailgates... ftr, let's remember Rex has always been a JETS fan...
This stuff is all covered in Hobbe's "Institutional Playbook of Success". Co-authored by a soda-jerk and a crusty old farm system scout.
somebody needs to lighten the fuck up and live a little and for what its worth this team DOES make me drink... haha
Point taken. Not the same guy at all. Although the mediocre results on the field are starting to look eerily similar. And, jeez, someone please tell me feldspar didn't get axed for what he said in this thread.
This is a great post, I agree completely. I understand it's partially a cause of the digital age. Prior to the social media craze this picture doesn't make it out of that Goober's personal scrapbook - but either way a simple "I'll take a picture with you if you take off that stupid T shirt" from Rex ends that problem and shows that he's a professional.
Lemme know the last time the Jets have done jack-shit...go on? If we were a continually successful franchise without causing OUR OWN media headlines such as creating a circus and Rexs feet problem, then I'd agree. Until then, the shirt stays because it's true and Rex has nothing to say because has helped create it. The end. /rant.
