I think with Genos practice today, MM's comments today, and Idzik's comments yesterday the chances of Sanchez starting are almost zero.

I wouldn't go by what is said at all. They'd be stupid to have made up their minds already and just pretending that there is a competition. The sooner they can announce a decision, the better. If they are leaning in a certain direction at this point, they aren't going to reveal that publicly unless, again, they are stupid.

The powers that be are obviously trying to light a fire under Sanchez's ass, and deservedly so. You can't take what they say at face value, and it's pretty hard to read into what they are "really" saying. Personally, I don't think they know who they are going to start, and the competition will play itself out in camp.

If Mark starts and sucks, no big deal- they go to Geno.

But if Geno starts and sucks, then going to Sanchez could be a blow to a young psyche of Geno..

I think Geno has a high ceiling but more risk if he fails early.... I am torn.

That's how I feel....... besides, give the new O-line some time to gel/improve and see if the guys catching the ball are worth half a shit before throwing the kid out there.
Babying? maybe, but Sanchez is already getting paid a ton anyway so..... no need to make the same mistake twice.

How do you know it will be a blow to his psyche? I want a QB that is mentally tough and won't cower if he gets benched.

At best the Jets will be 8-8 with either QB. The Offense has been a dismal failure over the past two years. It's not all MS fault. We need some playmakers. The only quality personal on offense are Mangold and Ferguson. IMO the Jets will not be much better playing GS then MS. Give GS a chance to accumulate into the system until the Jets improve their WR and TE position.

In Rexs first year, he took a rookie QB to an AFCCG behind a conservative offense and dominating defense under his control.

MarkS has been a turnover machine the past two years, just the thing you can't have with out playmakers on offense and a D that can keep you in games.

    I think they go Geno.

I would think they take their time and watch them in PS games before making a decision and announcement. If it is really about competition, that announcement probably won't come until after PS 2.

Mark starts and is evaluated every 2 week's. If we're 0-2 with Mark turning the ball over then Geno is in.
