Exactly. MM doesn't need to abandon his core principles. However, incorporating some different looks and game plan strategy, should adapt based on the personnel at hand. this is what good coaches do. The same applies if Sanchez wins the competition. With either QB, we need to still run the ball plenty, and leverage screen plays. With Geno out there, i would expect a little more shotgun formation than normal, as well as sprinkling some looks which worked best for him at college.
Hobbes doesnt seem to grasp that if you fully believe in a QB (who lacks weapons around him), then you dont go out and spend a top 40 pick on another QB... You spend it on a playmaker- Wheaton, Bailey, Woods, Kelce, Lacy, Bell, Michael ect. If you are committed to a QB, you do whatever it takes to make him succeed and place him in the best possible position. Its clear that the Jets needed playmakers- our WR1 cant even walk yet. Its simple. The Jets are NOT committed to Mark Sanchez at QB, for both the longterm and short term. Geno Smith was drafted due to tremendous value, and need. And no, not the need for a #2 QB. The need for a starter and franchise QB.
Is this really a big deal? oh I guess because of the pre-planted mental seeds about Smith. the guy seems like quite the introvert, maybe he had a focussed plan of his own that he didn't want to break for something lead by a competitor. Would it be nice to get some time with receivers? sure, but hey maybe he's more concerned with his technique, maybe he's gotten into a routine to help him with that which he doesn't want to preemptively ruin by focussing on what is receivers tend to do. Maybe he wants spend more time with family, we don't know. Its no big deal to be introverted and not participate in a rather short voluntary exercise like this. Mind you I'd be fine if he went as well, its his choice and it doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme.
I am so glad we drafted Geno. I think he will be our QB of the future. Crap, I thought that of Sanchez too. Oh well, I am really pulling for Geno to be the starter.
The queer aspect again, should probably inflate your boyfriend and release some tension. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...-broncos-complete-tim-tebow-trade-second-time Read the part about Drew Stanton, and how he was let go after being told that he would be the back up QB, and how upset he was with the Tebow deal. I doubt Stanton could care less if everyone knew Tebow was coming in to be a punt protector. He was never good, never said he was good to begin with. But he regressed once he came here from a viable backup option to a nobody. His last season of starting still had him putting out a better rating in QB rating and QBR rating than what Sanchez put up last year. Again, with the idiotic rambling here. No one is saying Tebow is the going to be great, or even average. He went from below average to horrible last year, which is regression. Probably the smartest thing you've said. The point being that Tebow showing up to Jets West did absolutely nothing for him. If Jets West had any kind of positive effect, he should've improved or stayed the same. But he did not. He went backwards. Interesting, we put Tebow at TE, and on Special Teams, so we did the same thing. If you actually watched the games instead of reading ESPN box scores, you would've seen it too. Please stop pretending like you have reading comprehension. Probably a bad sign about your reading skills when you think anything more than two sentences is too long for you to read, but if you practice enough, it'll help you out in high school. And you can invest in some Rosetta Stone English. You obviously can't comprehend the fact that I don't like Tebow much if at all, yet you keep harping on Tebots as if grouping your stupid argument as if it's actually going against BS fans such as Tebots will give it any credibility. Your misconception that Tebow didn't regress last year is idiotic on multiple levels. Again, misconception here, really should practice reading. Sanchez didn't ruin him, he didn't help him either, which was my whole point. Going to Jets West did nothing, there isn't one example of a backup QB that went there and actually saw an improvement in play, and we certainly know Sanchez hasn't done anything. It wasn't like Tebow being there elevated his game or got him on the same page with the WRs. It did nothing to help him, and he regressed. But you have taken an argument saying Jets West is useless, and somehow misconstrued it in your head to mean it's Tebow vs. Jets here.
Geno Smith is far better off being here- http://www.bommaritoperformance.com/category/athletes-trained/professionals/nfl/nfl-veterans/running-back/
What makes people think that going to Camp West is clearly in his best interest? Isn't a function of the things he needs to work on first and where he can best do so? No question chemistry with the wide receivers and runners is a plus, but shocks, it didn't seem to hae made a lot of difference to Sanchez. Injuries non withstanding his grasp of the fundamentals and ability to make smart choices and avoid mistakes digressed. You don't get that kind of training at camp west apparently. Geno does not need to get to know Sanchez and develop a chemistry with him. He is better served in getting to know the playbook, avoid distractions, and work on his footwork and throwing timing behind center. Why should he split time with Sanchez and cut his reps in half potentially. Further, call me paranoid, but I'm not comfortable with Geno getting schooled by Holmes or Sanchez without the support of his coaching staff. Geno has a long way to go, and the fastest way to get there is train in a controlled and unbiased environment without distractions, media, and competition. Training camp will take care of those aspects. Can't wait to get this show to training camp.
Why does he have to be "Geno-fer Lopez"? What if he decided not to show up for his own personal reasons? Stop making this out to be bigger than it really is.
It is a sad commentary on Jets fans that half the board hates Sanchez and the other half hates Smith. We should all be pulling for them both to succeed. To wish for anything else makes you an idiot. If Sanchez turns it around with a real offensive coordinator and QB coach, why is that a bad thing? He becomes an asset that can be traded or reach his potential. Why shouldn't all Jets fans pull for that? At worst, he is traded for a late round pick and the team is handed over to Smith. If Sanchez fall flat again, all he is a salary cap hit. Jets fans should also hope Smith is the next great young NFL QB. And anybody on this board who says they know he is or is not starting NFL caliber is completely full of shit. We'll know about him 2-3 years from now. But a true fan wants Smith to show that he has immense talent and potential. And if it turns out Sanchez is a true NFL star, the Jets can trade Smith. Both scenarios are good for the Jets, and isn't that what we want as fans? Success? Rooting against one or the other is plain idiotic.
Again, laxative, you dont seem to grasp, that both...vlad Ducasse, and Kellen Clemens, were seconfpd round picks. Did that mean that the FO,was not confident in their starters? Remind me again how those picks went? I think, to be fair its you that doesnt understand the way things generally work.
Glad to hear Geno is not attending Jets West. Its a complete waste of time and hasn't done anything for Mark or his receivers. Each year Mark has gotten worst. I hope Idzik takes the Green Bay approach and draft a QB every year. If you can't get a starter at least you can groom one for trade bait.
Besides the bolded part, I agree with everything you've said. my only disagreement is that if anybody gets traded its Sanchez. GS3 would be an untested starter, what value does that have? Sanchez is at least playoff tested and at a fantastic age to be a veteran. (late twenties, not too old, not young) Smith will be kept for the long haul if Sanchez brings the Jets back to the postseason, and WILL be made starter as soon as he slips up( if he slips up) if that doesn't happen it means Sanchez has become awesome, which is great! I'd rather Smith ride the pine forever if it means Sanchez becomes worth it and wins us playoff games and maybe a championship. if not, we're good! We have a top prospect ready to go. The day where Smith fails is the day we should be upset because it means we need a new guy but till then we're good either way. A prolonged Sanchez run is nothing but good, the ushering of the era of geno has nothing but potential. (no matter how soon it comes) I hope both play great. Is it at all possible that each pick is thought of differently? That the expectations of one 2nd rounder is different than another? They obviously expect him to be their man should Sanchez not pan out. They aren't that confident in Sanchez, otherwise they would have forgone the competition idea all together.
absolutely the thought process was to start Ducasse. We had just released Faneca, and Moore was well into the back half of career. Tanny was trying to re-stock the line. A 6th round pick drafted the year before beat him out though. As it turned out, he just wasn't a very good selection. So the plan never came to fruition.
