saw on espn...kerry collins starting for tennessee sunday against the chargers...i really wonder what happened with billy volek and the coaching staff, they had to have some kind of falling out...he had a bunch of good games starting for them, and i really thought he was going to be a good QB
Volek is gone and they aren't starting Young YET. Collins started off well and had some key drops then he struggled for a few qtrs but played very well in the 4th. Remember he's only been down there 2 weeks, Ten isn't going anywhere so Kerry gives them the best chance to win for now until they feel young is ready to take over later in the year.
I think he means as good as.. they are waiting for a decent offer then moving him, they didn't like what they saw from him, and thought he took the starting job for granted and didn't work hard.
That's the most surprising thing to me. If Volek was so ill-suited to do the job (I mean, come on, Collins is a nightmare), why wasn't he traded when teams were licking their chops for QBs during the offseason?
the announcers had me laughing all game, they kept saying "collins has been sharp all day, just hasnt had much help from his recievers..." I had to laugh, sure the recievers dropped like 2 or 3 all game, but Collins was throwing ducks all game how could they say that?
Collins was just signed and is trying to pick up that offense who volek has had years of experience with and they still prefer collins... that tells you something.
What does it mean when you'd rather start a QB that does not know your offense over your long term backup QB??? Volek must be really terrible to not have been able to beat out Collins for that start. Collins looked absolutely awful.
