Jets Announce 2013 Training Camp Schedule By Jets Staff The New York Jets begin their 2013 NFL season when they arrive at SUNY Cortland on Thursday, July 25, to open their fourth training camp under head coach Rex Ryan. The Jets 2013 Training Camp is presented by Atlantic Health, EMC/SAP, JetBlue, MetLife, SNY, and Toyota. Players will take the field for the first time on Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m. ET in the first practice open to the public. After Cortland training camp breaks, fans are invited to watch the training camp practice at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, N.J., on Wednesday, Aug. 21. At each training camp location fans will experience the excitement of competition with a close view of practice. Fans can also gear up with their favorite 2013 merchandise at the Jets Shop tent and enjoy Jets Fest, an interactive theme park with skill challenges and inflatable rides. Following each practice, Jets players will sign autographs for the fans along the sideline. Available players will sign autographs if weather, time and other circumstances permit. However, please note that autographs are not guaranteed. In addition, Gen Jets Kids Club members will have a kids-only player autograph area at all practices. Space is limited to the first 100 kids each day, so fans are encouraged to check in their children upon arrival. Admission to all training camp activities is free, but tickets are required. Fans can register and print tickets in the coming weeks on newyorkjets.com/camp. The entrance to SUNY Cortland is located on Stratton Drive off of Route 281. Parking attendants will greet fans at the entrance and direct them to the camp parking area. Cortland parking costs $5 per day. For practices in Florham Park, free offsite parking is available across from the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. The lot is within walking distance of the facility and shuttle service is also available. The parking lot can be accessed from Park Avenue. Once on Park Avenue, fans will be asked to follow the posted signs. The Jets invite all fans to attend open practices. Please note, however, that practice may be canceled or closed to the public in the event of inclement weather. Fans are encouraged to call the team’s fan line at (973) 549-4844 or visit newyorkjets.com for the most up-to-date news regarding practice schedules. For anyone that has never been to a Jets practice, I would definitely check it out if the drive is not too long. You can also hit up a practice at Florham Park after training camp is over if that's closer for you. Make sure to get there early, especially at Florham park, since they don't have any bleachers (at least not 2 years ago) It is totally worth it to visit a practice, my father and I had a great time. I had to drag him out to one, as he was skeptical and thought it would be boring and a huge waste of time. He enjoyed it as much as I did, and we still talk about with eachother even after 2 or 3 years. We would go back without a doubt if we still lived in the area. I got to meet a bunch of players and got signatures from Mangold, Brick, Harris, Brad Smith, Rex, and a bunch of others I can't think of right now. It was really nice being able to talk and interact with so many players. Also, watching them practice 25 yards away from you is a pretty damn cool experience for any Jets fan. I know I sound like im advertising for practices or whatever, but it's a great time and an even better trip for the family. Bring a football and toss it around with the kids or your buddies. Definitely bring a hat or a ball to get signed if that's your thing
They need to move it back to Hofstra. Before I moved down to Florida I lived in Uniondale right on front street.. We used to walk to the practices.
pretty soon, even the islanders will be moving to brooklyn.hmy: the hofstra thing is best left in the past. atlantic center is within driving distance. it is a 2hr drive from rochester to cortland. don't hear any of us outside the megapolis complaining, do you? the jets spend more than 95% of the time in the nyc city area. give the outside area fans the chance to see them.
i think im gonna go to day 1 of camp. its also my birthday that day. i used to go as a kid to hofstra in the 90s, i think its about time i hit up cortland
Sort of related I suppose, but what are the odds that Milliner, Richardson, and Geno are signed and in camp on Monday? It would really put a damper on the start of TC if any of those guys hold out. According to the Dick at ESPN-NY they are supposedly holding out for offset language (Milliner & Richardson) and guaranteed money (Geno). I would say Geno is the most likely to get what he wants. Based on what people say of Idzik he prolly won't cave to the offset demands. That doesn't leave me with a warm fuzzy that we will see our 2 #1 picks from the beginning of camp. Come on Idzik, find a compromise!
I thought the new CBA had language to prevent rookies from holding out? Or was it just that the rookie cap scale should prevent them?
the new cba sets the amount of money the contract is worth. there are still some things for the agents and gms to quibble over. the offset language seems to be a sticking point with top 10 picks. i don't know if anyone is going to holdout over it though
I've been a religious TC attendee since 1997.Back in those days camp wasn't as advertised & exposed..they didn't have or need grandstand seating for the fans. There was one or 2 bleacher sets fit for any neighborhood little league park. A part of me does miss the Hofstra days. That said the initial reasoning for leaving it behind is a good one. Rex wanted to get the players away from all the distractions of that urban setting. Additionally there wasn't a whole lot of Jets stuff to enjoy outside the facilities atmosphere wise. All of Cortland is decked out in all kinds of Jets scenery..almost like a spring training feel. It's a fantastic vibe that Hofstra just can't compete with.
I agree. I miss the Hofstra days. I also miss 2-a-days. I would go to the morning session, then hang out at Rooseveltfield Mall, maybe catch a movie and lunch, then go to the evening session. Heck, even went to Yankees games sometimes on the same day. So from a fan aspect, I think it is worse now. Team-wise, it is better to get away. To be fair, I haven't really explored Cortland as much as I could, I guess.
i am still a bit annoyed that i never made it to hofstra, i remember the year we brought favre in i had planned to go with my little guy, he was 2 or 3 and it would have been a fun experience for us both. then they brought favre in and it became a fucking fuck fest out there... then they moved it. that still annoys me a bit when i think about it. i cant be driving half way to fucking buffalo for a day and cant make sense of spending multiple days on football when i am as busy as i am with the rest of the world.
Will be going to the open practice in Atlantic Health. Need to get a good pair of scouting binocs, anyone know where to start?
so... this gonna be THE training camp thread going forward? Cause I was gonna make a QB competition only thread. that way we can focus on other battles and news NOT related to the elephant in the room, and keep the sanchez/geno arguments contained in a shared forum like they will be anyway in their respective threads. not sure if it will work though.
