Sanchez's career: 2009: Mostly awful, but since he was a rookie with little experience, he earned a pass. Then he started and won 2 playoff games, which was by far the best thing he did all year. 2010: Inconsistent, but showed flashes of brilliance. There were games where he looked like he'd clearly be the long-term answer. Mistakes were mixed in, but he showed a lot of improvement from year 1, and the year ended with little question that he would eventually be a good QB. 2011: Downgraded from Braylon and Cotchery to Plaxico and Mason/Kerley at WR, but Sanchez's play stagnated. There were flashes still, the 30+ total touchdowns absolutely were a positive sign. However, turnovers were still a problem, probably a bigger problem, and he ended the year struggling, unlike the year before. 2012: Bad OC, horrible offensive weapons. Got very little help around him early in the season when Sanchez was playing decently enough. Then he lost faith in the weapons around him, and his play deteriorated to rookie year level. There's a chance Sanchez can turn it around and be a good player. Guy had very little college experience, and he has the best offensive coordinator of his career. However, when you've played 4 years, starting virtually every game, and you're coming off a year like he had last year, it's hard to have a ton of confidence. Jets owe Sanchez nothing at this point. Still, it would be nice if Jets fans didn't boo our starting quarterback when the season begins, if Sanchez wins the job, because I can't imagine being booed opening day (which is probable) is good for one's confidence. But hard to expect much else with this fan base. The ideal situation for the Jets is that both Sanchez and Geno play well in camp. Sanchez wins the job and becomes a solid quarterback, but Geno is impressive enough where we can trade Sanchez after the season for a mid-round pick and give Geno the reigns. Make no mistake: if Sanchez starts and plays fairly well, someone will trade for him. If he sucks, he has no market, but if he can show to be a decent starting quarterback, there's a market for that always.
First, you say Pennington had a better running back, offensive coordinator (which no one thought at the time) and receiving corps. Then you cherry pick Sanchez's two BEST seasons, with Pennington's two WORST seasons, when Pennington had NONE of that supporting cast that you mentioned just a few posts earlier. And you conveniently leave off offensive line, which is the biggest difference between those two offenses. Come on, man, be objective. Or is Kevan Barlow going to the Hall of Fame and I just missed it?
Theyre not cherrypicked, they are each players last two seasons under Schotty, I was not implying that those fuys played with Penny, in 06,07... Merely pointing out that along the way hehad better help(thomas Jones didnt exactly suck either) And, yes, since Schotty was here, many longed for the days of Henning,Weis,or...even Hackett. Hey, if you guys really think Schotty had a defensible career here, we could always start a new thread.
Nononononono.. The DEFENSE wins more.. Big difference.. Pennington would have been one of the greats if he didn't have a noodle arm.
So, the td/int ratio, is a defensive stat? Because, the last time I checked, penny was +1,+1, and Sanchez was +4,+8 (both players last two seasons under Schotty) guess the defense lead those comebacks, and drives too.
Ability wise, middle of the pack. Current Performance bottom third, ahead of every starter in the state of Florida, and Arizona, Buffalo, Romo, minnesota..and you will argue, but all things being equal, id take him over Rivers every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
You are on drugs. Romo is a consummate choke artist, playing for a better OC, with actual weapons, and no playoff results. Then again. It appears Overpaying backups to be starters, is common among Dallas franchises  I'll not wait for a reply. Romo, has Garrett,Witten, real backs, and WRs, not over the hill retreads, and yet....fails to get anywhere... In what cosmic bunnyhole, is he better than Saint Chez???. Does Bozo know youre raiding his intellect? Let me ask the former quesrion differently...lf I had to play Manning, or Brady, for all the marbles...,who would the smart money be on, Romo, or the guy that beat both?
The only QB worse than Sanchez is his reflection in the mirror. Wait it has less turnovers, scratch that. Mark is the worst.
Put down the crack pipe Every starter in the state kf Florida, is worse, arizona, Buffalo,Minnesota too. Thats 8.
Tannehill and Freeman are better than Sanchez tho Freeman isn't that great himself while Tannehill has potential. Ponder has a better arm but he's nothing special. Palmer, Gabbert and Manuel don't impress me
I don't like Sanchez much, but Tannehill, Freeman and especially Ponder aren't that much better IMO. Ponder has a garbage arm, he can complete short passes and is mobile, but he doesn't have a better arm then Mark. Peterson was average more yards a carry then Ponder's yards per completion. Freeman hasn't contributed to a big win ever in his career and he's been in the league for the same amount of yrs as Sanchez. Tannehill has been in the league for one season, the majority of his stats come from garbage time (end of the season).
Tannehill, Freeman, Ponder and Sanchez could all get cut today and tomorrow the only one without a job would be Sanchez
