http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/23931/bradway-gets-new-title-in-rebuilt-front-office Bradway gets demoted and promoted more than any employee I've ever known. Has he impressed Idzik that much that he gets another promotion? He's been with the team for a long time now and he's existed throughout multiple regimes. btw good article because it lacks Cimini's opinion.
Terry Braday should've been named assistan director... that way it would've been clear what his job really was.
I take this to mean that Idzik recognizes that Bradway played his part in the overall roster's recent failure.Removing him from that all encompassing "Personnel" title means that he will no longer be an architect within the overall construction of the team. He IS a good evaluator of college talent. Now he will be concentrating on just that.
i think badway has run his course at this point. he has been there for so long that its probably time for change just for the sake of change. i mean its been forever and he has not shown well for large portions of the time. even though he is a well respected scout.
Bradway opinions on record that I can recall..anyone feel free to chime in w/ any others.I'm going post GM spot to decipher between he as an advisor & as the actual decision maker. 1. Did NOT like Vernon Gholston. Thought he was a workout warrior. Preferred Rogers-cromartie or Mckelvin at that spot 2. Was lukewarm on Kellen Clemens & wanted Charlie Whitehurst instead. 3. Loved Russell Wilson 4. Did Muhammed wilkerson's pro day & was a strong voice in his selection 5. He and Tannenbaum were in unison about Stephen Hill even against Ryan's opinion
He's obviously respected within NFL circles. Parcells recommended him to Woody as his successor. Mangini and Tannenbaum kept him on, Idzik kept him on. Regardless, the important thing is that there are some new minds on the staff.
He took the credits for Revis at last year's pre-draft press conference. Revis had an amazing pro day and Bradway became convinced that Jets had to get him, at least that was what he said.
Bradway is abysmal. His failures are historical fact. I can't say I'm surprised, but Idzik disappoints me with this. The guy should have been canned years ago and forced to pay back the salary he essentially stole from ownership.
The biggest flaw in the Jets talent acquisition process over the last 12 years, prior to 2013, is that they moved up too often at the top of the draft and the players they took up top had fairly random results. As long as the new regime is interested in using the picks they have to promote value naturally, instead of the almost desperate wheeling and dealing up top, I don't care who is involved in the process. If we're lucky the Stephen Hill trade up was the last one we see for awhile in the top 3 rounds.
So is Rod Graves now 'Number 2'? thought i read he has extensive college scouting background, as well as obviously former GM. Wouldn't mind someone like that being Idzik's right hand.
Guys like Bradway develop EXTENSIVE credible networks over 20 years or so in the trade. When you're trying to get the honest low-down on young players, having a list of 100 college coaches, trainers, etc that you're good friends with certainly helps make for better decisions. I'm not saying Bradway has ever made a good decision in his life, just that Idzik probably won't throw away a guy with 20 years of insider contacts without having another long time proven guy in the wings.
Is it old news that Aaron Glenn is working for the Jets? Because I didn't know, and I absolutely love him. I'm feeling a crazy surge of irrational happiness about this.
Yeah, I like that he's scouting for the Jets also. He was one of the best ever at tuning out crazy and playing at the top of his game. He's probably really good at getting inside the head of college players and figuring out what's going on.
