You do realize that in a nutshell you just described why Sanchez isn't the guy. You claim that there comes a time when a "Jordan" has to step up and make the play...in Football there is only one position capable of being "Jordanesque" and that' the QB, or in a few rare instances like Adrian Petersen, a running back. You say all 3 of Sanchez's int's came late, and that's true...but that's also the epic example of not being "Jordanesque". Was there an excuse for the 12 minute drive? nope. Other than a run down and demoralized defense that had been on the field WAY too much that season and seen the offense go 3 and out at a near league leading pace. But that's not an excuse, but neither is throwing 3 interceptions and I think a fumble if I recall reading correctly, because he was having to "push" the issue. That's when a Jordan moment occurs, when a single player can step up and say here we go.
There was about 7 total drives where the offense was off the field in less than 1:45. One drive over 4:05. What does that mean? The defense had very little breaks, and the offense had a very had time doing their job. Conversely, the defense gave up only 3 drives over 15 yards... Which means they did their job mostly, and gave the offense the ball back quickly. The defense also only gave up 3 points until the 6 minutes of the game. Please tell more of how the game wasnt on the offense?
I'm surprised at some point the defense didn't just go punch the offense in the face...kinda like Ryan's dad did to an OC once upon a time.
I guess you meant this one, missed it sorry.. Sanchez can call plays. Ive long advocated for it, in response to Schottnheimers brainless douchebaggery. After they let him wear the headset, in the preseason, i said.... They should give him one or two series to call his own plays. Every time he scores, he earns another series.
perfect? at Oak: allow 34 pts. Jets led 17-7 at one point. Our O cut the deficit to 7 w/ 5 1/2 to play, D allows Oak to take 3 mins off the clock and kick FG to push game out of reach. They were perfect this day? vs. NE: they allow 30 pts. O pulls us w/in 6 w/ a TD w/ 7 mins to play. D allows NE to hold it for 6 mins and kick FG to put game out of reach. perfection? vs. NE: they played great for most of the 1st half but after O scores TD to put us up 9-6 w/ 1:20 to play D allows NE to go 80 yds and score TD just before half and seize momentum. In 4th qtr on the first play we scored a TD to pull w/in a TD. what happens next? 7 min TD drive by NE to extend lead back to 14. perfection? at Den: D played GREAT for all but 5 mins but they played a BAD offense that they should have shut down and w/ the game on the line they allowed a QB that can't throw to go 95 yds in the final minutes. phi: just got steamrolled, gave up TDs on first 3 possessions. allowed 38 pts. Perfection? vs. NYG: played well most of the game but allowed the play that changed the game we were dominating and change the season for both teams. 3rd and 9 at the NYG 1 they allow a 99 yd TD. at Mia: played well against bad O missing their best player, w/ the lead in the 3rd qtr they allow a TWENTY ONE play drive that took up almost 13 mins into the 4th qtr to give away the lead. This game doesn't bother me b/c we were out of it anyway but that possession was brutal. One of the worst drives allowed as far as I can remember- up there w/ the Raiders running down our throats in 2003. Instead of hurling insults you can pay attention and learn.
Ah I was at that Oak game U refer to & until MS threw that pass after he was flushed from the pocket & after that INT the air went out of the NYJs wings & they crashed & burnt & went back to NJ with there tails between there legs.
Did you know that in August of last year, we were told, by you, that: Do you really want to start keeping tabs on peoples' commentary and predictions?
You do know that when mostly healthy we came out and crushed Buf week 1, right? you also know that we lost a ton of key offensive players including his top 2 receivers, right? Things change, had we been mostly healthy we would have won a few more games and been a potential playoff team but injuries are part of the game and we didn't have the depth to overcome losing Holmes, Keller, Hill, etc... I am right much more often than I am wrong, I never bring it up but if you want to go back through history please do.
If, by August of last year, your only concern about the team was the RT position, then you were wrong about your concerns.
That is assuming good health, I am always concerned about staying healthy. if healthy we would have won at least 3 more games.
Rex is a great defensive coach, problem is he's the head coach and he needs to be more concerned about things other than will his defense be in the top ten. The Jets need an offensive head coach, someone interested in developing the most important position in sports-quarterback. Rex seems confused about spelling because he thinks it' cornerback!
It's more than the two consecutive first downs, how about the first half when the Jets run D couldn't stop Mendenhall? A lot of factors play a role in this game from Mendenhall to the lack of getting off the field on 3rd down and Schottenheimer calling a pass play on 3rd and 17 from our side of the field / Wayne Hunter tipping the play at the LOS during the goal-line stand True mark of a great defense is not allowing long drives (Matt Moore, Tebow, Big Ben - list goes on). A great defense steps on the offenses' neck and ends a crucial drive - especially at the end of the game.
Exactly. In a given game, if we kick a FG early in the 1st Quarter to go up 3-0, but eventually lose the game 7-3 in the 4th Quarter, then Junc's logic places blame on the Defense. Unreal.
I love the folks that have no idea what they are watching coming together to bash me. It's beyond comical.
