    this.

no risk high reward chance here. he is either fully recovered and has a good year left in him or he is done and won't make it to September.

I can take it or leave it

So are you saying Jets upgraded their TE squad considerably, then?

Kellen Winslow Jr coming in for a tryout in mini-camp? Bring him on! There's no commitment to anything more than looking at him and TE is a ghost town for the Jets right now.

I think he could be a great safety blanket for Geno.

He could be solid if he gets the touches. At this point he's a slight upgrade over Cumberland and definitely an upgrade over Konrad and Smith.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with these moves. No downside at all and if we are lucky some considerable upside.

If you are expecting a 5-6M a year or more true blood signing this year, well get over it. Its not going to happen.

Good for our GM to search for the potential forgotten gem. One never knows.

He's still a decent TE, something we really need.

    I absolutely love this pickup

I think this could work out like Landry last year.....an injury prone player looking to prove people wrong and trying to get one more big payday. I could see him having a HUGE season for us

Normally I would hate a move like this, but the Jets receiving group is so bad that there really isn't any downside to at least kicking the tires.

Too bad we can't get his dad to come in for a tryout.

yea, at worst he could be the veteran #4/#5 wr that rounds out the depth chart.

He was behind Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski last year. He was pretty much signed to the Pats as an insurance policy. You can't really judge his stats from last season and claim he's declined. I think he could be a great fit on the Jets.

Getting excited over this shows just how desperate we are at that position.

That's true but this is a low risk high reward signing. We get an established experienced TE that knows how to run a route and can make catches. Having him takes pressure off guys like Cumberland, Smith and Rueland. So that way they can develop at their own pace and be able to contribute when they're ready. Smith has potential and I do think he will be solid but we need depth at that position.
