Scouting the Jets I realize the Jets are a pushover this week, and not worthy of our attention, but out of respect to Jets fans who come to this forum curious about what we think of their team, I decided to watch the Jets/Titans highlights on demand at 4 AM this morning. Here are my thoughts: 1. a horribly played game that made the Bills/Patriots game look polished by comparison. 2. Pennington is still noodle-arm. Maybe more than ever. No zip on the ball. He lobbed all his passes, and should have given up several interceptions against any sensible defense. It's really just a matter of looking up and jumping to get the ball. Why the Titans didn't figure this out is a mystery to me. 3. Mangini is unbelievably fat. Not surprising, but still shocking. I am sure that all Planetiers are sympathetic with his situation (we are all fat people here, in case anyone hadn't noticed). 4. The Jets were the beneficiaries of a number of gift calls by the officials, which of course will not be the case when they play the Patriots. The Pats may have no wide receivers, but they still have the officials, and that's the best thing to have in the NFL. some guy wrote this on patriots planet hope the team feels this way they could be in for a rude awakening!!!!
sorry i must be clear , i am a die hard jetsfan this is something i saw on there sight definately not my thoughts sorry for the misunderstanding .....
Just to respond to all these points... 1. No, the Pats beat the Bills and the immortal J.P Losman because of a lack of awareness on Losmans part. I saw parts of the game, both teams looked terrible and if the Pats play that way against the Jets its going to be a very very competitive game with a possible upset. 2. Yea Penningtons arm is still very noodle-like. He didn't throw any strikes downfield to Laveraneus and that touchdown pass to Baker had no strength on it at all. Jerk. 3. Well as I've said before Mangini does look like Ooter from the Simpsons. Then again he can balloon up to 450 pounds if he wins who gives a shit. BB looks similiar to Death from family guy. 4. The man's right. Who here wants to bet the Pats get a rediculous call and the Meadowlands crowd flips out?
lol...no problem, it did sound like it was coming from you...they're being delusional. Pats and their fans are going to be knocked off their high horse this year...guarantee. Maybe not this week...but definitely this year.
Chad's arm may not be strong but it is very accurate , also I think coaching was to blame for the loss to pats bills decided to go for it on fourth down instead of taking the easy points they were winning 17-7 at that point .
Any sensible football fan would realize that Pennington's arm looked as good if not better than it has ever looked. He threw a couple of out passes I have not seen him make with such precision in a LONG time... Pennington is back to his 2004 form before the injury he suffered in Week 5.
I'm actually going to dignify #2 with a serious response: I worry that the patriot fan poster is half right on this one- Not about the "noodle-arm" part. I thought Chad's armed looked miles better than it looked last year and maybe as good as it's ever looked. He's no Brett Favre clearly but his accuracy and timing were incredible on sunday and if he keeps it up, there's no reason he can't once again be a top NFL QB. It did occur to me though that a better defense not only could have intercepted a couple of passes but also returned them untouched for TD's. I think this had to do with the type of pass play that Jets continuously ran on sunday. I bet at least 5 of Chad's completions were short timing routes to the sideline- underneath the secondary- where Chad throws the ball across the field and the receiver turns around to find the ball almost in his hands. They executed this perfectly time after time but it scared me how little time there was between the ball and defender arriving. If the corner had been able to jump the route, he easily could have taken it to the house. That was the only time where I wished Chad had held on to the ball a little longer and then really zipped it in there. I guess it seemed like a high risk, low reward type of play no matter who your QB is. Maybe I should have more faith that Chad will continue to be able to read the D and know when there's a chance the corner will jump it. I just have trouble imagining him being able to have such perfect accuracy and timing every single time they attempt this pass. and I worry the NE will be ready for it. Did anyone else get stressed out by those plays?
Why keep talking about Chads arm? He looked great. Why compare him to the great Brett Favre? He didn't score a damn point sunday. He is washed up, they are keeping him for what he did years ago and because he is reviered in Green Bay.
I don't know why anyone is bothering to respond to the guy's points, he's obviously an imbecile and not worthy of our attention.
Who cares what one person writes, even me for that matter. You guys look good and should make improvements all season. I think it will be a tight game on Sunday, low scoring Could come down to the kicking game.
