Vince is better than Russell and he's had experience playing in the WCO.

On one hand: Russell could come back and pull a complete 180 from his previous football career and completely shine, shocking everyone, and making true to the hype that the NFL gives him not only now, but when he also got out of college as a truly solid QB.

On the other hand: It could all be hype and once those pads come on, he could be a miserable failure and not get back into the swing of things since he has been out so long.

I don't know. Wouldnt it take him a year or two to get settled back into the NFL? He could be completely overwhelmed since he has been gone so long. I dont think he is worth the risk. Besides he will be 28 by the time the season starts. There would be no point unless hes strictly a 3rd string/back up.

    No Deal.

If you bring anybody in you bring in a Vet and you only do that if Sanchez and Smith look really bad in training camp. This season is simple Geno maybe the future but he gives the Jets almost no chance to win. They will start Sanchez until he plays himself out of the Job or the Jets are out of playoff contention.

Injuries can always change this plan but it is pretty clear. The only people blowing off this season is the fans and media. There is no doubt in my mind rex thinks this teak is good enough to make the playoffs. They won 6 games with 30th ranked offense.

So how much money do you people think the Jets have to throw at a backup QB and who do you think among the people being discussed would take it?

You Can't be serious can you? Guy has financial issues up the wazzo, had mental and emotional drama in TN, was the "dream team" spokesman in philly. I dont know, I would rather take the "circus" that Sancho has. Plus, Mark is probably a better QB...

Now that I really think about it, do we really want this distraction around Geno Smith? Not saying that he will be a bad influence on him, but this will be like another Tebow, other than nobody really likes him as much. The media will feast around this way too much, and that wouldn't go too well with Geno being so young and inexperienced.

The E 60 piece on him was sad, but its all his fault...He screwed his life up. Him trying to make a change is a good thing, but it wont work in the NFL

i see him as a guy who can come in, occasionally, and throw the ball extreeeemely hard into a key defenders face and break it.

Canadian Football League. Arena Football League. He has options if he really wants them. He just doesn't have real options in the NFL at this point.

Both of those would be a lot of work for very little pay. If he wants to prove that he's got some football in him and will work hard to bring it out that's where he goes. If he stays focused on the NFL, well that looks for all the world like a guy who wants one more big check so he can go partying again.

If they really believe Russell looks good, motivated, and ready to perform, do it.

If they are signing him just to add another QB for camp/competition, I would look elsewhere to QBs who carry less of a media buzz/hype/circus. He wouldn't be first on my list if we are just looking for competition.
