I could see the possibility of 80% feeling this way. Yes, once upon a time Sanchez was the quarterback of a team who went to the playoffs and did well, but there's no denying how far he has regressed since then... And for those who don't see the obvious take off the Homer goggles and get out of the kool-aid pool... Serious what do you expect from the guy who is most known for the butt fumble
Um dude, he's the offensive co-ordninator which means, by definition, he's also the passsing offense coordinator. duh. But if that's your belief that the OC isn't the passing OC then you really need to stop blaming him for Sancez's failures. Can't play that card both ways. But we'll go with your defintion for now, he still moved the rams up 8 slots in his firsts season as OC and I'm willing to bet it goes up further this season.
If some teams would kill to have Sanchez he'd no longer be on the roster, he was on the market this year and not even a rumor of a taker.
All good, just wondering. And that's probably the case, along with 100% of the rest of the defense. It's been maddening to watch our D get strung out with no balance and shitty special teams the last two years.
The fact is a lot of QB's lead their teams to the playoffs without the luxury of a top 5 defense AND a top 5 running attack. You look at teams who make the playoffs year in and year out and they all have one thing in common, top 10 QB's. Yes every season some average QB will lead their team to the playoffs based on the full strength of the whole team or a weak conference or a "light" schedule. But there are certain QB's who unless the rest of the team on offense AND defense is a complete disaster consistantly get their team in to the playoffs. If you have a top 5 Defense and a top 5 Rushing attack you can plug any QB in and as long as they don't totally flub it you get to the playoffs. QB turnovers will kill you and it's no co-incidence that in the one year that Sanchez had his best turnover season the Jets posted their best record. One can successfully argue that in 2009 If Mark doesn't throw 20 picks and put the ball on the ground 10 times they post a better record, and one can also successfully prove that without Markts high turnovers in the last 5 games of 2011 the Jets are in the playoffs. The Jets Defense has been a playoff calibur defense in each and every year, in 3 of the years the running game has been enough to get them to the playoffs without QB turnovers. People can talk all they want to about Mark being 4-2 in the playoffs, that doesn't matter at all if he's not a good enough QB in the regular season to get them to the playoffs without being able to ride an elite defense and an elite running game...which is what he rode in the first two seasons to get to the playoffs and what he rode in 3 out of the 4 playoff wins.
^Agreed 100%, my thoughts EXACTLY. Sick of hearing about the 4 playoff wins. The training wheels were on the whole time, those wear complete TEAM wins. And yes, Sanchez contributed there, but those 4 fuckin games aren't enough to wash away the memory of the last 32.
I think Rex Ryan said it best about Sanchez: He does a lot of good things, but a mistake here and there can't happen in the NFL. That is how you lose. He just might not be good enough.
90% I don't buy it. No chance that 10% of the players still want him on the team after what he has done to this team the last 4 years. Think about it. 50% of the team is defense and a 100% of the defense certainly hates Sanchez as he leaves them on the field all day, destroys their stats, leaves them in bad field position and forces them to play an almost perfect game every week for the Jets to have a chance of winning. Lets look at offense. All the WRs and TEs hate him as their stats suffer greatly because of him and he throws so many bad and late passes he greatly increases their chance of injury. The OL hate him as he messes up their stats taking many unnecessary sacks due to due to his poor pocket awareness, panic attacks under pressure, running around with his eyes closed when under pressure, giving up on plays and because he is that he is afraid to take a hit. The RBs hate him as defenses just key against the rush as they know Sanchez can't beat them. The special teams hate him as he constantly leaves the Jets in bad field position. Who does that leave left on the team that may even remotely like Sanchez? The punter. He loves Sanchez. Oh and don't forget the two other QBs as he gives them hope and makes them look good in comparison. 3 people on a team of 53 does not equal 10%. But hey, maybe I missed two people.
I think 2 losing seasons is right. If you really want to be honest about it, with Sanchez as the QB, the JETS should really have had only ONE winning season had the Colts not laid down on them in his rookie year. In all likelihood, they should have been 8-8 and not even made the playoffs that year without that gift from the Colts. Not only that, but Sanchez didn't even play against Tampa Bay that year, a game the Jets won: so, in my mind, the Jets were really 7-8 with Sanchez under Center in his rookie year. But hey, that's just if you really want to be honest about it. 2010 - 11-5 2011 - 8-8 2012 - 6-9 32-30...Sanchez is a WINNER! LOL.
It. may, but it would still be the first time he cracks 20, if he goes more than three spots My money is on the Jets making a larger jump in total offense from last year to this. With Sanchez.
One of 5 fastest to thirty wins, ever. Yes. 8-8 is not a losing season, but hey....a measure of winning against the entire history of the NFL. And hes top five? Maybe.....just Maybe...young QBs arent all that successful, yes. I know...the wins were attained through a team effort, but the losses..are on Sanchez.
Actually BS already has had a couple of top 15 offenses and several #15 passing attacks, just not with Sanchez.
Actually glad you recognize that, in games the 32 games Jets have won with Sanchez at QB he's thrown 21 interceptions, in the 29 games they've lost he's thrown 48 interceptions. That's not factoring in the fumble factor, just the interceptions. That's a fairly good indicator, another is in wins he completes 58% of his passes, in losses 51%. so in losses he turns the ball over more than twice as often as he does in wins, and completes 7% fewer passes. And here's another clue, he throws ALOT less in wins than losses. In other words the less sanchez does the more the team wins. The More Sanchez does the more he turns the ball over and the more the team loses.
