Despite what we think should be, it is what it is and it is illegal where he was arrested. These are not what was originally dubbed "Cop killers", those were steel bullets designed to pierce light armor. They were dubbed cop killers as they can also pierce bullet proof vests. Hollow point bullets do nothing more than expand on impact, leaving a larger wound channel. They were not designed to come apart in the body. But all of this is off topic, my apologies.
The Ammo is regulated (though not banned) because NJ is a Communist paradise. Even Republicans in this godforsaken place are half red.
If we hadn't cut Tebow this would not have happened. You can't be passed out on the road if you are in prayer group.
Why!?!?!? You just signed a contract? You can hire someone to do shit like that for you. Jeebus. Jets have the worst luck
Was there any indication of bad connections before hand out of curiosity? can't do much for what you can't foresee.
Typically, there is an "insurance" clause in pro contracts that protects teams from this type of thing. More than likely, the contract will automatically void and Goodson will owe back any signing bonus he received.
I think we should let all the facts come out before anyone passes judgment. I am sure that is what the Jets are doing.
(1) If Goodson hired his friend/bodyguard to drive him around, then he may have been semi-responsible. He went out drinking, and had someone else drive for him. Now, if that guy was drunk too..... (2) Am I correct that their car was STOPPED on I-80 in the center-left land ? Dead stopped on a highway, not on the median or grass ? Even at 3 AM they are lucky they weren't hit by another car !!!!???!!
No.... (1) 1st Time DUI: $5,000 or loss of possession of vehicle. (2) 2nd Time DUI: Loss of vehicle and jail time.
It should work that way, but unfortunately, in this situation it may already be too late for him. Once the news was released and the media got a hold of it, this charge is going to be associated with his name whether he is guilty or not. The way the media is, especially the NY media regarding the Jets, they are going to write and talk about him like he's already been charged, tried, and convicted. They will put pressure on the Jets and bring up the whole circus/lockeroom issues. This will likely force the Jets to make a decision well before the trial. What Idzik should do, and what I believe he will do, is do an investigation (for the lack of a better word) himself. Talk to Goodson, Goodson's lawyer, the driver, and the prosecutor. He should be able to gather enough information and have an informed idea on how this case is going to play out. With this information, he should be able to make a call that will work best for the New York Jets and Goodson.
I have been reading thru most of these pages and some are correct in what they have stated. As a police officer I have done this many a times, its called constructive possesion. I can tie the weapon and ammo to everyone in the car as long as it was not on anyones person. As scary as this sounds the charge sticks, now that doesnt mean when it all boils down it will stick but on that intial arrest it does. In saying all this, more than likely some of the charges will be dismissed or plead down. I will be willing to bet at the end of the day the guy with Goodson takes the charges and Goodson gets off with some minimal charges. Now what that leaves the Jets with I dont know....
