Yeah, he's HoF worthy. A Super Bowl win. 3 1st team All-Pros. Part of one of the best defenses in NFL history over a long span of time.

Pro-football-reference has him at 61st all-time in Weighted Career Approximate Value. Deion Sanders has the same 115 AV (remembering that Sanders missed some time to baseball). Emlen Tunnell and Herb Adderly are the only CB's with a higher WCAV.

He might get caught in the same trap some of the WR's are in but he shouldn't. That Buc defense was absolutely dominating for his early career and prime. It only slowed down when he did

Dude should have retired ten years ago. HOF? There are half a dozen players from that team that need to go in first.

^I agree. I see him in the same area as Strahan. Very good player but I never thought either was dominant or the best player of their era.

He's not HOF worthy in my book. A very good player though.

Barber was the #1 CB on one of the top 3 pass defenses in post-merger NFL history. Seriously, the 2002 Bucs made the 2009 Jets look ordinary. You can look it up if you don't believe me.

They were straight nasty....... he was a great player. HOF? maybe but not 1st ballot. He benefitted from a great interior pass rush.

btw, WE STILL WANT SAPP :shit:

Rhonde was a good player but a tad overrated especially when we have seen what a great corner actually looks like. I see Rhonde in the Asante Samuel category, good player who could make big plays but not an all time great.

the 2002 Bucs may be the best D in NFL history, our D was good but not great so there is no comparison but where our D was led by our secondary their D had a ferocious pass rush and great LBs.

Great comments. I believe he is HOF worthy, yes...but also agree not a 1st ballot guy. There are others from that team first. I'm also on the fence about John Lynch...since we're talking Buc's defense any takers for John to be in the HOF?

I think John will make it, he along w/ Sapp were the faces of those great Ds. I'm not sure he was as good as his reputation but I think he'll make it.

Barber's not a 1st ballot Hall of Famer by any means. He'll probably get in eventually.

I think the Hall of Famers from that Bucs defense are Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, John Lynch, Ronde Barber and Simeon Rice. Sapp is in this year. Brooks will likely go in next year. The others at some point during their eligibility.

Rice may have the hardest time getting in because we have some gifted sack artists coming up.

There are some overrated pass rushers that are going to get in b/c they are bigger names than Rice but Rice definitely belongs.

Brooks was also the face of the D. Actually he was probably a) the best player they had on D and b) the heart and soul of that D.

All three were great players and will all be in the HOF soon.

I agree he was the best but he was also a quiet guy so most people tyhink Sapp or Lynch when thinking of those Ds- or even Barber.

Ronde will make it into the Hall of Fame within 10 years after he becomes eligible. The thing that always stuck out to me about Ronde is that he
could come up and make the hits on the runningbacks. Also, it's spelt
    RONDE not RHONDE

Derrick Brooks was probably the best coverage LB in history. If not the best certainly in the top 5.
