I thought this to be very interesting. A column by Dan Pompei - Rest of the article (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfp-sunday-blitz-093043983--nfl.html) Of 22 noted prospects, 2 were targeted and picked up by the Jets. Now, not for nothing, but if, ultimately, we can hit on 2 undrafted players that would be awesome. Teams that find diamonds rebuild much quicker. Obviously a crap shoot but the mere fact it's being mentioned is good. Does anyone know about the two guys picked up? Great discussion point(s) that aren't Geno Smith's immaturity or Rex Ryan and his job. :breakdance:
Zach Rogers made amazing catches last year and he has a shot of becoming a very good slot receiver for us.
2 guys at positions where they have better than average chances at catching on. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 1 make the 53 man roster
His 40.5" vertical at his pro day would have been the best at the combine amongst WR, and is 3.5" better than uber-athletic teammate, Cordarelle Patterson. Who says white men can't jump? For some perspective: Pre injury, Derrick Rose posted a 40.0" vertical. Lets hope Rogers' athletic traits translate to him making an impact.
I know this QB class is considered weak but I'm still shocked nobody was willing to use a 7th rounder to bring Tyler Bray into their training camp. Even if you've got a HOF QB like Pats, Broncos, Saints, you should spend a 7th rounder & sit him for a few seasons. Tools are there. Liked Alvin Bailey a lot but Jets spent so many picks getting solid OL talent already. So it's good that he signed elsewhere. ====== As for the Jets: They did a solid job bringing in two of the highly ranked UDFA. I like them both but think Rontez has a better shot @ making the roster. Would've been really sweet if Jets could've signed Chase Thomas also. =========== What's up the Browns? Do they really arrange their board alphabetically? That makes so little sense.
Thanks for posting... I think it is very encourgaging that two of our UDFA's are being recognized as being decent pickups....Maybe things are changing for the better in this area....
Here's a feature on Zach Rogers... He looks like a kid to root for that could potentially contribute down the road
Interesting piece. I really enjoy the fact he sat down and "learned" the ins and outs of the offense. I was also impressed how his younger teammates (they all appeared to be Juniors) would go to him for direction. Hopefully he can translate that to the Pro game.
Jumpin Jehoshaphat! White dude's got UPS! He sounds like a Brandon Stokely or Jericho Cotchery, not the best athlete on the field but a smart, crisp route runner that does his homework. Those guys are valuable to a team on 3rd down and in in the red zone.
Zach Rogers is a type guy that the fans could really get behind. I would love to see him make the 53 man roster. Who knows he could be the next undrafted guy to be a key player on the Jets. Still makes me mad Rex let Woodhead get away. My top player will always be Chrebet.
Damn..we both were thinking the same thing..I spent too much time reading and not enough refreshing the page.
If Zach Rogers make sthe team and can at least get to the #4 WR spot to show he might be around a while, I would buy and wear his Jersey. I like the underdogs. I like to cheer the over achieving little white guys who make it despite the odds.
Why is that? Because he's a teensy weensy little white fella? Is that why he's the "type guy that the fans could really get behind"?
Had to look up some of these kids on YouTube for some info. Miles looks like a tough hitter from his highlights (I know, I know, they're highlights for a reason). Reminds me of Landry and Pollard. By I never seen him in coverage much. Looks like the kinda S that will either play close to the line on the 46.
