Two area where the Jets have depth is the DL and CB. Langster, Berry and Trufant provide decent depth. Wilson has this year and next on his contract. Might be something to consider if another team has atraining camp injury.
I think he's worth more to us as a nickel/backup than he would be in a trade. He's an OK #2 in the NFL, I just don't see any teams giving up much in a trade for that.
trading wilson essentially hands the #2 to millner and goes against the competition mantra idzick has been preaching.
Makes zero sense to trade him. A rookie, albeit a highly rated one, and journey men are behind him. He was also a key piece to a very tight pass defense last year. Bodies do not entail depth at a position, skilled bodies do. Our CB situation looks very nice the way it is set up right now.
One of the biggest problems this team has had is depth at positions and now you want to trade away the depth because we drafted Milliner? Let's just trade away every non starter. That's a great idea
I personally feel that Wilson is better suited for a team that plays a lot of cover 2 and some off man. He's way better when the play is in front of him versus having to press which we do a lot of. On a team like that, I think he would be a better than average starter, Pro-bowl even, versus being a first round draft pick nickel corner.
I wonder if Revis and Milliner were on the team together with Cro and Wilson if we wouldve beat Peyton and the Colts in the 09 championship game. I know its about as far fetched as it gets having a 1st round draft pick play dime but if Milliner pans out what a scary depth chart the would be. Oh well at least we beat them in 2010.
Trading Dwight Lowery is why we have a depth problem at safety. Of course we might not have moved him over to safety but the fact that he's turned into a pretty good one stings a bit.
^that. Why the distaste for Kyle Wilson? Has everyone forgotten how we lost to Manning and the Colts? Youneed ro be at least three deep, and Wilson is a good player. Its one of the Reasons I advocated for Matthieu.....
We probably wouldnt get more than a 4th, and with all the comp picks we could/should be getting, its not worth it. Wilson isnt great, but he's improved over the years to be solid. He will be valuable to us next year when we are deciding what to do with Cro- his contract could cause him to be cut or restructured. Without Wilson, we have no leverage.
With the lack of Safety depth, I think Rex is gonna be going with 4 CB a lot more than expected. Don't see Kyle Wilson on the trading block unless Jets get blown away with a high pick. Also, let's slow down on Milliner. He's a highly rated prospect but Jets should still wait for him to go through some preseason game before declaring him the opening day #2 CB. Wouldn't surprise me if Kyle Wilson is the opening day CB#2 & Milliner starts out as a nickel back.
If we had a QB not named Sanchez we would have had our 2nd Superbowl. Our defense was not the problem.
While I think he might have some mid round value he serves as a valuable piece of our secondary. I think he sucks in man coverage especially against faster WR's but he is a solid nickel back. Not what I wanted out of a 1st round draft pick but in a passing league you need to have guys like him.
I think we should slide Wilson to safety. a secondary with Cro, Dee, Landry and Wilson ain't bad at all.
