at the moment is the only thing that has any meaning actually, because that is all that has occurred.

whether after the players actually play Milliner and Richardson, or any of the other players drafted, become the signature of the draft, that will be a different topic of discussion at that time. but what she is clearly referring to is what is occurring right now, and not what may actually occur once the season starts.

That's the problem. Her article is a handjob to people that need instant gratification. It has nothing to do with reality. It has to do with people that have no sense of real football.

Articles like this are what we should be shunning, as a group of intelligent football fans.

Instead of fanning the flames of instant gratification.

    Do you agree?

I don't make player predictions, so I agree with what you are saying absolutely with that practice.

Of course people will discuss the present. Her failure is to provide perspective.

Well said. If anyone puts Revis ahead of Jets, he is not a real Jets fan.

it's a fluff piece. I don't mind reading a positive perspective on the draft.

    That's odd.

Because a fluff piece will usually make the reader feel good about a certain individual.

The target audience is a Jets fan, the Jets spent two early first round picks on defensive players and the signature pick is a quarterback that not many were sold on and went in the second round?

Unless he turns into a top signal caller, how is that a puff piece?

She barely talks about him until the end of the article, referring to him as the "free-falling Smith". At what point does she fluff up Geno Smith? Seriously?

I know that I may be jaded after years of shit articles from Jets beat writers, but I fail to see what qualifies this article as "fluff".

We had little leverage in the Revis deal. I was surprised we got thier 2013 first

Richardson was Widely seen as a mid first rounder. Mayock had him at number seven on his board. You either know shit about the draft or are lying.

    Damn! LOL

I thought it was a great article. Helps portray that there is a new sheriff in town and he isn't taking anything lightly. I guess everyone has their own portrayal of the piece. I hate this lady also, but I thought this was a well written unbiased article.

    To each his own

I think people are being way too hard on Ryan. I think its in the best interest long term for the Jets that Idz & Ryan are tied at the hip for a long time. While Ryan still isn't a complete coach from the HC perspective, he is still involved with the offense and now that he has a REAL OC, he might actually learn a thing or two about designing offensive plays.

I know I sound like a broken record but Bellichek was a defensive guru until Tom Brady became his QB. Then he transformed into an offensive genius. There's no reason Ryan can't make the same leap.

Belichik became an offensive genius for two reasons:

    1. He lucked out and found Tom Brady.

    2. He knew who the meal ticket was and dropped everything else to hug him.

If Bill Belichik doesn't find Tom Brady he is fired by 2003 at the outside and never gets another HC job.

He was 5-13 at the moment Mo Lewis saved his career as a head coach.

Abyz at his best. I finished reading that article and immediately checked to see if my wallet was still in my pocket.

Gallant effort by Miss Jones but no cigar.

It so frustrating even to hear our head coach sing his praise.

The only difference between the BB the Browns had..and the BB the Pats have is Brady.

The guy was a defensive genius and its the defense that hasnt landed rings on Bradys 10 fingers.

We had leverage. Tampa wanted him badly. That's the leverage.

Richardson only played one year of Div I ball and did a lot of his damage from the stand up stance (he played all over the line at Missouri). Sharif Floyd was NUMBER TWO ON MAYOCK'S BOARD and we passed up on him, so your own argument proves you wrong.

QBs win games. Not CBs. So of course the possible franchise QB we drafted is a more important pick

It takes two team in the position to be able to use the word leverage. Tampa could have renamed Tampa Bay Revis Bay...and no matter how much they wanted Revis..if there is not another team..they could have said a 2nd rounder.

Seriously..a question for you...what if the Bucs said no...just a 3rd round pick for Revis. What would the Jets have done.

They would have kept Revis no? They would have waited....UNTIL AFTER THE DRAFT...and waited for someone to come around and offer them a first round pick for when?

Really need to move on. When you have one bidder and you end up with a first round pick..you did all you could do.
