Wow. I never thought I'd see the day when they'd give a quarterback Revis money.

I know it's a QB league all, but the two best QBs have 1 Super Bowl in the last 7 years. Is it maybe counter productive to pay a QB THIS much no matter how good he is? A QB is important but it clearly isn't the end all be all of who wins

Granted though the rookie wage scale makes it easier I guess to stock the team with playmakers at a cheap price. I'm curious to see where the QB market will eventually rise to before stopping

I came in here to post something just like this. QB is important but still only 1 player. These monster contracts are crippling great QBs ability to win it all. It is actually pretty ironic

    Lol....

Now Rodgers will become the highest average. Year paid QB in the NFL. Unlike the Flacco deal, it does not have a big spike year. Rodgers deal is reportedly never going to exceed a 22 mill cap hit, while Flacco's contract includes a year at a 31 mill cap number. That is why those up in arms over his deal needed to understand it was designed to be reworked half way through, while the deal with Rodgers is designed with the though that we are paying the best QB in the NFL exactly what he is worth. Flacco is never going to see the last three years of that contract as is.

Yeah I wish I was productive enough to look at each SB winning QB and seeing how much % of the cap their contract took up that year. Would be interesting to see if it means anything

Yeah I agree, but the Aaron Rodgers breed of Quarterbacks can pretty much get paid whatever they want. This contract is absurd, and is like 18% (?) of the entire salary cap for the Packers. However, when you play quarterback in the NFL and you are in that elite class, there are 20+ teams in the league that will pay you at least what Rodgers got here, and its hard to argue that it's not worth it

Completely agree packers had to pay him. I just wonder if the overall market where this is acceptable is too high. Come playoff time, we see again and again these games come down to special teams, defense, non QB stuff. Maybe an extra 2-3 million for the team gets you a better player there. Who knows though
