8-8 the defense is going to be good as usual. davis and barnes will be a big improvement at lbs. the secondry will see a slight decline, but the d line should help make up the difference. on offense, i just can't see where things get worse. we added a career o.c. who has a habit of fielding above average offenses. he took vick, who was a career 55% passer and got him above 60%. i think he can either,do the same for sanchez or limit the rookie pains smith might have or garrard will play and he has made a career of playig safe. runnning back has been upgraded,wr has been upgraded by virtue of health, t.e. is still thin but pretty much the same as it was last year. right now i am calling the oline a push. can't tell if it will be better or worse at the moment. defense stays good offense improves we will be playing meaningful games in december this year.i don't think we make the playoffs bu we are not an "expansion team" likesome on espn have been saying
I agree with this but now the team looks like it is going somewhere and this season is about the development of the guys. I'm excited to see how Hill plays in year 2, our young guys on defense especially Demario Davis and of course Geno. I really didn't give a shit about Sanchez and whether he can "bounce back"
I vote 6-10. This team is still going to struggle offensively regardless of who gets the starting nod at QB. While I think we had a great draft - I don't see the immediate 1 year turnaround coming off of it. Rather this draft sets us up to add the play makers needed next year to have a real impact.
I don't see how in the hell people expect our record to improve, let alone go above .500. Our biggest issue was offense last year and we haven't addressed that. We actually lost a 1,000 yard rusher and a decent TE and replaced them with an injury prone guy and some UDFAs. The line should be better but that's about it. QB is still up in the air. I go with four wins, mostly just because our inability to score points. A lot of 17-13 losses.
We are not San Fran, you forget they have a coach who knew how to use the QB. We can't even be put in the same area of San Fran.
are you seriously saying losing greene will hurt? he is the epitome of a jag. the production we got from keller last year can be replaced by anyone. he was that ineffective when he was healthy enough to play. an improved line is going to improve the whole offense. more rushing yards, less sacks and and better decison by whichever qb is playing.
I voted 6-10, but I could see it being significantly better (9-7 or 10-6) or significantly worse (3-13). I can't remember the last time I was this confused about the direction of this team.
I think it really depends how well our rookies/second year players do. If Hill, Davis, Milliner, Richardson, and Geno show as much promise as Coples did last year, then I don't care too much how we do, we have a great team in the making. For now I'll say 8-8, but I'd pin it more at 7-9. The winnable games are a lot harder to win than the loseable games are to lose, if that makes sense.
We lost Greene and replaced him with Ivory and Goodson. Two fast and powerful backs that will flourish in a WCO. Idzik has added Garrard into the QB mix to compete with Sanchez, who can very well be a good starter in the NFL. If you don't remember, Garrard was the starter for Miami until he got injured. He has previous experience and commits little to no turnovers. I can see him doing well mentoring Geno. The BIGGEST thing you are forgetting is that Sparano is not running this offense anymore. That guy was TERRIBLE!! We now have a proven and great OC in Marty. Believe me, this offense is not going to be anywhere near as bad as last season.
I think the jets are a sleeper this year so i will predict we win around 7 to 8 games. Despite not drafting any WR's, having them healthy will be a good start. The RB's are vastly improved compared to last year and we will have a decent OC. Oline in theory should be improved with all the new bodies we drafted/signed. Still need a TE to complement cumberland. Defensively i'm eager to see how it operates. Clearly D-Line is now the big dog on defense and I want to see how rex gets them on the field. Would like to see the OLB shored up but we'll have to wait in see. David Harris will be watched closely this year in order to justify his huge salary as well as possibly cromartie. Safety is iffy but rex will shore it up somehow. Even though the draft was lack luster, i have hope for the jets to make some noise in 2013
Maybe I'm a bit more optimistic than most but I see 8-8. With simply average QB play and our injured guys back we should see 6 to 8 wins. Add in the fact that our defense is going to be, I predict, top 3 next year and yes, 8 wins is not a far stretch. More has been made of how bad the NY Jets were last season than the team that really stunk up the joint in Kansas City; or in Jacksonville. I stress this because every one of those NFL Network guys had to make SURE that we all knew how KC was number 1 in the draft even though fielding EIGHT pro-bowlers. Wellllll....the NY Jets couldn't have sucked so bad if they could lay down 6 wins with only a couple pro-bowlers and probably one of the top 5 worst seasons a QB has had in the modern era. No, I foresee the NY Jets laying down, at least, a presentable showing this season. My one caveat is health...much like anyone else will say if we stay healthy. I, for one, am really really excited about our defense. I don't know why some of you get on Harris. So he had a down year? That's a first. I suspect, now that he doesn't have to compensate for slow teammates, he'll be back to normal.
