I do think Geno has that in his mind that he was passed over for Manuel. This could be Marino/O Brien part 2.

We won't stink enough to get Teddy and the Revis draft picks were for 2013 not 2014.

I don't mind this pick at all. Stephen Peterman on the other hand...

Nope. You missed the meeting, the rest of us decided that we were going to draft a future franchise qb this year if the opportunity was there - it was there, so we decided to take Geno. Next time don't get drunk and miss the meetings where we make these decisions.:lol:

Pat White was a bad example now that I think about it. Gundy's system at OSU and Holgerson's at WVU are quite similar. Smith is obviously a much better athlete than Weeden but I think you can put a lot of highly productive college QB's in that system that have not panned out in the NFL or even had a shot and they'd have similar numbers to Geno. The one thing that seperates Smith from the rest of these guys is his athletic ability but all of them ran in a similar system in college and had no NFL career. Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan, Kliff Kingsbury, Jeremiah Masoli, Graham Harrell. Harrell would be a great example being Holgerson mentored him at Texas Tech.

My honest feeling is Geno isn't an ideal WCO guy. I think if you want him to succeed the best system to run would be the Run and Shoot. That's obviously not what we're going to do but I think his mobility and quick release would make him a good candidate. I don't know if he can read a defense well enough but it was one of my favorite offeneses that sadly has gone away from the NFL.

We are not going to commit four years to Smith like we did Sanchez, because we didn't spend that much on him. Sanchez required a high draft pick and is worse than Geno. Now I would have rather we filled a different position like S, G or TE with the pick, but at worst Geno will be a back-up QB in this league. At best, he will be the next Randall Cunningham. He did run a 4.5 after all, with that arm strength, so if Morninwehg likes this guy, why not get him. I can understand the pick... not sure I like it, but do understand it.

At least we didn't blow it like the Bills did. If I were a Buffalo fan, I'd be furious right now.
