If they think that Smith is a franchise QB, why did they pass over him twice?

Radio reports said Morneiweig (sp?) fell in love with Geno Smith after his pro day workout. If that is the case and you are drafting based upon a scouting report of your OC, then fine...

This would also make me tend to believe that Rex and the coaching staff are staying around longer than this year. You don't bring in a young QB to learn a system, knowing you will be at best a 500 team, and then fire the coaching staff to have the young QB re-learn a new system. That is a set up for disaster. (e.g. Sanchez with 3 OC's in 3 years)

Average Footwork, Struggled in the weather in the Pinstripe Bowl, won't have Tavon Austin or Stedman Bailey, can't handle the pressure of the Green Room at the Draft and likely will not handle the pressure of playing in NYC.

Hahaha believe me, I know. I acted emotionally.... But most of it was pure confusion. I have been studying this draft for months like you, and was just really shocked to say the least. I had to to sleep on it and I'm a tad more comfortable with the pick.

Because Richardson was a top 4 player on their board. Like they said, they went purely off value. I've also ears that there were discussions of taking Smith at 13, but Richardson in their eyes had too much value.

It was an unexpected pick. Richardson is an incredible player, he's quicker than some linebackers.

Expect a few more unexpected picks the next few days.

Don't merge this, just delete it.....

Smith is far from ideal for the Jets. NO NO NO! Phil Sims did a lot of studying and says Nassib and Glennon are better NFL QBs and would fit much better for the Jets. Nassib is a field General and Glennon is more pollished and played in a pro style offense.

I think Smith compares favorably to Tannehill and what the Dolphins are doing is similar to what the Jets can do. Get your QB in place, and then put weapons around him.

The only thing Glennon is good for is peeing his pants. Nassib's own college coach spoke volumes about what he thinks of him with the Bills pick.

I have absolutely ZERO faith that the Jets actually know how to build in talent for their QB

If Geno falls to us i would consider it BUT wouldnt move up.

We need a pass rusher though

He's a student of the game??? He's a kid who went to WVU bc he couldn't make any other BCS college academically, and didn't care enough to improve his ACT.

He's a leader?? He's a sulking baby, whose team now that they joined a real conference was a massive failure.

He doesn't even read defenses in that system. He looks to the sideline before the snap, and the HC tells him which receiver to throw to. All game. It's a gimmick system that is famous for taking JAGS to absurd passing heights.

He is not a special talent with his legs either. Why on earth would you waste a pick on this????

I have spent the last two hours re-watching the WVU / Oklahoma and WVU / Syracuse pinstripe bowl games and what I see is average footwork, average arm, stares down receivers and does not locate the blitzers. He's over thrown many receivers down the field. This has confirmed my original opinion of him.

I know mobile black QB is in vogue right now due to the success of Russell Wilson, RG3 and Kaepernick but it would a huge mistake to pick Geno.

With guys like Woods and Franklin available, that fills your needs and can start immediately, why waste it on an obvious bust like Geno who will be sitting for a while?????

No matter who they pick if they pick a QB I will bet Sanchez will be gone by June 1st..maybe that's why they cleared another 5 million+ today.
