There have been virtually no leaks from Jets camp. Sanchez was on a radio show and was asked about it. I don't think he said anything bad.

It's kind of hard to give the team credit for being silent when they were away from the team's facility for the past few months. These comments by Sanchez (though they may have some merit to them) are unnecessary and pretty stupid to say.

EDIT: In Sanchez defense, Woody did bring the attention on deliberately. He wanted to sell tickets/PSLs and, above all else, get attention. Woody saw his cross-town rivals getting all the media love after winning the Super Bowl and he wanted some of that attention to come his way. I think it's pretty obvious that Rex didn't want any part of Tebow but was more or less forced to live with him being on the roster. I think Woody forced this move and Sanchez is right to be upset about it, but his ire looks silly when he comes out and plays like ass.

Pretty sure he will be correct on both.

I hope for your sake you're right AJ. I'm used to this franchises' missteps over the decades. Nothing surprises me anymore. They can keep Revis or trade him. They can keep Teblow or cut him. Either scenario I'll accept as it makes no difference to me personally day to day. Hell, they could give Ryan a 10 year extension should they choose. I couldn't give a important sht either way. Results are what counts. Everything else is ying/yang. 44 years tell the story.

That is true. I'm sure sometime within the next five years, we'll win a Superbowl. It'll be fun pulling up threads of everyone arguing, then.

You might wanna expand your timeframe. Try the next 44 years for some perspective. That would be 2057AD.

And here I thought championjets (what happened to him?) was the king of the darksiders.

Sorry, but this is based on nothing but optimism.

He is still king. What might surprise you is that should this franchise ever win big, he'll be the first in line waving pompons, throwing confetti and singing the praises. I'll be in the line behind him.

Very true. And I'll be with my Dad (hopefully not just in spirit) waving the pompoms behind you both.

Armand......do you think my Dad, who had tix when they were the Titans, thought he'd never see them in the SB again after '69? Do you imagine he thought he'd see them win only 3 division titles since then and nothing more?

Don't say they will win the SB in the next 5 years based on nothing.

I won't be surprised at all actually. I have a question however. Human behavior and motivations are fascinating, so let me ask you this.

You clearly don't have any hope that Jets will accomplish anything of significance in the near future. You've also been following Jets for a very long time and it seems you're planning to continue doing it. Why?

Please don't take it as a put down attempt, I'm genuinely interested. This reminds me of abused wife behavior: hubby beats her up all the time, but she still stays with him...

Why are you still a Jets fan, still rooting and caring for this team? Is it a habit? Do you like the misery, the underdog status? I can understand the wife - she is "obligated" by marriage and daily abuse becomes a routine and eventually somewhat tolerable.

But you have annual 6 months break from the Jets. You have time to soberly assess the situation and move away from the misery. Yet you choose not to.

Why not? Why are you still a Jets fan?

You're correct in that it's based on nothing but optimism. But, I'd like to think that everyone here will be rewarded relatively soon with more division titles and championships.

If this forum is still up and we haven't won anything in 20 years, then I'll be waving the darksider flag.

Because I grew up with this team and I saw them win a SB long ago. Same thing with the Mets although they give me more hope than the Jets. If you go by the long version of the word "FAN", you'll notice it's short for "FANATIC". I am clearly no longer a fanatic and as I grow older, I'm not fanatical about anything but instead, I take the long view so to speak.

I'm a fisherman which might be one of the few things I'm "fanatical" about. It also means I have to have a large amount of patience. At some point, I will catch a fish but that doesn't mean I fish on rainy days or in areas where there aren't any fish. I won't stop fishing because it something that I love to do.

Same goes for the Jets. They'll win one day. I may not live long enough to see it as I'm almost 60 now but the odds are with them in the long term. I don't have to like everything they do, but I do choose to like and follow this team and I have throughout the dark years. But here's where the cold hard reality sets in. I don't have expectations of them winning any time soon. Why? Because they just don't have the horses in place. Perhaps over the next 5 years and definetly over the next 44 years. The odds are with that although the Chicago Cubs might argue that point.

In addition, I find that people that settle for second or third best usually get what they want. If just being there is good enough for some folks, great but its not good enough for me. I set my personal standards higher than that and that's how I choose to live my life. That's why whenever someone brings up those 2 AFCCG's, I cringe because they were losses and the team has almost nosedived since then. Don't pretend we won anything and those two losses somehow propelled this team into prominence. That simply didn't happen.

Now if all of that doesn't give you my own personal view of the Jets, then I guess it will remain a mystery to you. I'm a darksider because I want this team to win but I just can't get with the circus. I can't go with blaming the media for everything that is wrong with this franchise. I can't ignore the last 44 years, the buttfumble and the many many instances of incompetence this team has given us over the years. I can't and won't pretend they didn't happen.

This team needs to win. Not come close every few decades. This team needs to show progress. The circus needs to leave town permanently. Make no mistake, my patience is not without limits. Just like most Jet fans though, we always find our way back.

On a sidenote here... I was all set to give the team credit for not putting their business in the street or speaking out of school until recently. If Sanchez was anybody except the guy with the untradeable/uncuttable contract, criticizing the new Boss and the Owner wouldn't be good for career longevity. He's not in a real good position right now and although he probably was thinking those things, he shouldn't have said them publically. Rex? sticking his nose in Baltimore's business was symptomatic of the old "Foghorn Rex". Perhaps he should focus a bit more on his own situation and how to redesign the defense aka: Life w/o Revis. To the rest of the Jets, kudos so far for shutting up. Same for Izdik should he get max value in any Revis trade.

    None of us deserve that.

Hopefully the way Idzik seems to be regrouping and building towards the future will be the turnaround we've all been waiting for.

    Cman,
Thank you for the explanation. I also root for perpetually underachieving teams - Jets, Mets, Nets and Devils. I guess I'm just a bit more optimistic than you are, but this might change in the next 15-20 years.

But it's the jets, therefore it is considered a national headline
