that's my issue with it. i'm no hockey expert by any means, but it seems dumb to have a system where players just get tired and exposed easily by well coordinated passing attacks. Then you get taken to 2 game 7s and end up losing all steam for the ECF.

we always look a step slow on offense because we don't put any emphasis on offensive passing. our cycling is terrible and we never get good shots on goal..this was a problem last year too.

Any fool can see a player like Zucarello is an immensely talented passer and would be an asset on a 3rd line that played a more attacking style offense; yet a genius like Tortarella didn't care much for him last year and even less for him this year.

And then he accuses the offense of being 'stale' and then switches the lines around so there's no continuity between players! Tortorella is absolutely terrible.

Can we please get over the whining over losing a soft player that didn't fit the team? Not to mention the biggest reason for the trade was to alleviate the big salary with a sizable drop in the cap next year.

Yeah, couldn't let Gabby/Richards continue to eat over 14M of cap room. The former was just the easier deal to move.

Between that and Redden/Drury [FINALLY] being off the books, we should be in a fairly comfortable cap position to deal with our RFAs like McD, Hagelin, and Stepan while having some space to bring in a couple second-line quality guys.

Or maybe not because the 2014 offseason is gonna be the big one. As of right now, only Nash, Richards, and Staal are on the books past next season, plus MDZ restricted.

Yeah, there's a lot of guys to sign over the next couple years. 2014 will be most interesting because they'll have to make decisions on their "original" core guys, minus Staal who has one year after. The Rangers had a great situation where a lot of their young talent was making a pittance in relation to their production. Gotta figure a lot of those guys are gonna want big pay days (i.e. Stepan, Hagelin)

Also, if the Rangers decide to amnesty the Brad Richards contract, which I'm not certain will happen, their cap situation will be pretty ideal. At that point, the only monster hits are for obviously deserving players in Nash and Hank. Past that, even after some of the guys get re-upped, none of the contracts are going to be $4M +

Haha. A relatively big pay day considering he's making $800,000

where is everyone, on vacation? expected to see a lot more posts re Sat night. Anyways, great game, Rangers were fortunate to get 2 points there for sure, but the game wasn't as lopsided as some Isle fans and some media would like us to believe. Hanks stolen a few games in the last week or so....a little more reminicent of last season.....obviously he likes
playing in the Coliseum..1 GA in 2 games.

going to be an interesting close here........being the pessimist that I am (sorry fellas, I'm a Ranger, Jet, Met, Knick fan.....worst is always expected). The Devil games and the Buffalo game worry me. think the Flyers and Panthers have closed up shop for the season.

Didn't think it was that lopsided Tcrock, got outplayed a little, neither team was getting great chances, Brassard's a gifted passer, Danny G. didn't miss wide right for a change...Hank was on his game

I htink you guys are being a bit generous in your analysis of Saturday's game. The second half of the second period and the entire 3rd , it was all Isles. We could have lost 5-0.

I wouldnt go that far. The isles had only 6 shots in the third period themselves. Ill give you the second half of the 2nd though. They were hanging by a thread there. Steps had a post too and cally an open net. It was a good "road" game even though there were a ton of ranger fans there. PP still brutal.
