And this is why there is hate.

Pace (and Bart) were overpaid for what they were. If their price was lower initially, no one would complain. If they both happen to come back on the cheap as depth and young player mentors, then its a Win for the Jets. Cheap vets that know the system on 1 year contracts are well worth adding to the roster.

We know how Rex is with his guys though. If they are brought in for nothing but depth, sure. But if they are going to take away time from some of the younger guys, I'm against it.

Agreed. The problem with Pace has always been the money he was getting... sign him on a vet min deal or something near that and I'll be happy to have him around.

Bart Scott is an ILB, we don't need him. We already have Harris and Davis. Pace is an OLB, we have no one there...
Plus Scott is a distraction, Pace is a quiet guy.

Like I said before, If we're going to give a very valuable roster spot to a part-time situational LB, give it to a young guy who's good at 1 or 2 things but still learning how to become a 'Rex' guy. And who will also run full speed into a brick wall on Special Teams and take the head off the first guy he sees.

He has long been strong versus the run and a weak pass rusher.

Given the 3-4 OLB options in this draft, it's a smart move. Most are considered high upside, but need some development and could bust if thrust into a full time role immediately. Superior 3-4 OLB prospects like Aldon Smith even were role players as rookies, playing only in sub packages as rushers while they got a year of conditioning and coaching under their belt.

Dion Jordan, Ezekial Ansah, Barkevious Mingo, Jamie Collins, Corey Lemonier......any of them --- all are ideally suited for a sub-package role as a rookie as a pass rushing specialist, especially Mingo and the guys below him. If you try to play Jordan as an every down OLB and he can't hang, he can end up getting Manny Lawson'd which is what San Fran did to him in their 3-4.

OR, he could get a year to play in behind Calvin Pace who would handle the run downs and focus solely on getting after the QB. In Year 2 he could take on a full time job and explode like Aldon did, or JPP who also was a role player as a rookie.
