If it was just Slauson I wouldn't comment, but this is the latest in what is becoming an increasingly long line of departures from the Jets and most of them have not signed deals we could not have competed with had we wanted to.
People upset about losing Slauson..... Don't lose any sleep. Easy piece to replace and upgrade. Stop crying over nothing. I am not concerned with this at all. Our o-line was a joke last year and this guy was one of the problems. We can't do any worse.
Thats exactly it, I know we didnt have money for Landry, but why not Fred Davis, Landry part two, why not Jerome Harrison, we had enough to sign Slauson. Keller was shit so I am not worried about him. Its starting to get old with this team.
meh. Provided good value for his salary & draft position but there's no need to get to upset at this. Serviceable but easily replaceable.
Slauson could provide cover at multiple positions on the OL and was cheap. What do we do now if Nick Mangold goes down for the season in week 1!
Slauson is replaceable. He was decent, and he had the luxury of playing between Mangold and Brick. Even before this happened, I had a feeling we may see Warmack or Warford in 2013. It's funny to listen to people wig out about losing Slauson, and hardly a peep was heard about Keller.
Hope he gets to be the weak link between two all-pros in Chicago too, kids got a bright future. Next.
I don't see anyone "wigging out" over Slauson going. You cant really tell the tone of people posting on a forum (without the use of a ton of emoticons anyway). My mood with the Jets so far this off season is just one of "meh". I am not particularly surprised by the cuts/players allowed to walk, the same way I am not surprised that they haven't really signed anyone (what with given our cap space?) but its certainly not a situation that fills you with any excitement for the coming season.
I was talking more about people on the radio that I heard while I was in the car today. They mostly have the attitude that everyone is running away from this team. As opposed to stepping back and seeing the bigger picture that Idzik is trying to address. Personally, I am a bit more optimistic about this regime. The team hasn't gone out and signed any headline grabbers, I am actually relieved to see that. More than likely, it could be because we don't have any cap space, and there are a ton of holes to fill. However, Idzik and crew are filling the roster with some depth, and I figure more are to come. The FO seems to be lying in the grass and waiting, but I believe more signings will come post draft. The FO should wait and see what needs they can fill through the draft before dispensing money on the likes of people like Kolb for example.
davis wanted to stay in washington. if he didn't he would have visited and tried to get 3 teams bidding for him. has d.landry signed anywhere yet? i assume you mean james harrison from the steelers? if so,he is past his prime and will want osi money. not the m.o. of the new g.m.
Agreed on Harrison! That would have been a Tanny signing hands down. Idzik is looking for guys with upside on the cheap, not guys on the downside for big bucks. Don't need anymore mid 30's linebackers, the Jets are going for youth.
His run blocking wasn't good enough for us the last 2 years. He is replaceable, all the best to him though, good 6th round pick.
