Yeah just heard this myself too.....surprised they couldn't agree on something.

First time in a while the opening night game wont be in the defending champions home stadium.

I wonder where the Ravens will open? I think it could be in Denver, get right back to where we left off in that game.

Yeah you're right ... I think Denver would be the most "must-see" marquee type of game. Either that or Pittsburgh due to the rivalry. Denver makes the most sense.

    Their road opponents are
Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Miami, Chicago, Detroit, and Denver.

And now that 'tradition' gets even more pointless since the day of the game was moved last year, now the venue this year.

This stand-alone opener nonsense is silly but all the sports do it to an extent. The NBA/NHL even do it overseas, sometimes MLB did it in Japan.

NFL would drool over same-site re-match, SB champ, and Manning all in one. I really want to open the season that way.

It would be a massacre, though, IMO. Broncos are looking much better than the Ravens at this point in team - it may be too early to tell, though.

Agreed, I bet most of the Ravens prime time games are early, sell em while they are still hot, cuz I believe things are going to get ugly for Baltimore.

I wouldn't mind if we opened the season with them. We're just right up 95. It would be like a day trip for them. Plus I think we could easily take them and get a quick W to start the season.

Ravens-Broncos just got more juicy with Dumervil going to Baltimore.

It would make so much more sense for the Orioles to either a: move the game to 1:05 or other early afternoon start, or b: have a doubleheader on Friday or Saturday instead.

The White Sox are the Orioles' opponents that evening, and are arriving after a 7:05 Wednesday game in NY, so the early game doesn't really work for the White Sox.

Since it's a holiday weekend, I would move the game to Friday or Saturday afternoon for a split doubleheader. That way, they don't lose the revenue through a twi-night doubleheader, and they solve all their traffic issues.

Then again, I think there should be more scheduled doubleheaders as a rule, like the old days. It would certainly keep the World Series from moving into November. The WS is scheduled to start October 23 this year, which is way too late.

I don't think it'd be a good idea for BAL/DEN Week 1....but I get NBC has a Manning fetish but I think BAL/MIA would be a better game as I think the Broncos could put a hurting on the Ravens for the divisional round game so its the most likely bet.

Ravens and Dolphins to me are closer in terms of talent and level and I think this would be a great way to get a packed, surefire soldout game in Miami. Also gives us all someone to root against on Thursday.

Shame Angelos is such a stubborn, old man...he would never surrender or give in. Hardly anyone will be going to those games, especially if the O's were nothing but a fluke. Angelos needs to realize this.

why couldn't they have had the game on sunday night instead of having the defending champs open on the road. that's not fair to the ravens, or how about friday....

Ive heard that they wont open in Denver, because Broncos-Giants will be the opener.

Prolly Steelers then because their is a good chance that Steelers-Ravens could be bomb matchup if they did it in the middle of the season, because both teams are potentially going to do bad
