Well, after the first half, the Jets look a little better than I thought they would.

    Good:
    Chad's arm
    Passing game looks solid
    Cotch looks great
    Coles solid
Dyson looks like a fantastic pickup
DRob looks better than I thought he would
    Ellis getting pressure
    Overall defense looks good
Run D better than it's been in years

    Bad:
    Running game is non-existent
Nuge is absolute garbage. No distance OR height on KOs, and there is no excuse for the missed PAT.
Ryan's fumble was terrible. He had more than enough time to get a grip on that ball

Overall so far, I give the Jets a B+. This team can't beat playoff caliber teams right now though. And Chad is going to get slammed if this rush attack doesn't wake up.

Chad and all recievers looked fantastic. Our running game is pathetic. And I love nuge, but there is just no excuse for a missed PAT.

    16/22 189, 1TD at the half. I don't hear any noodle jokes.

The most impressive part of Chad's game in my opinion, is that he is doing all of this without any signs of a running game.

    Good:
Chad's arm is looking good and he has gotten up from the hits (so far)
    Cotch looks solid
Dyson is making us forget about Ty Law.
Even J-mac has resembled a good NFL receiver.

    Bad:
Chad has make a few questionable throws, tossing into double/triple coverage more than once.
The run game has been disappointing at best.
Nuge is terrible so far. Btw...who happens to be our backup kicker in case Nuge has to be replaced?

Those early penalties are also discouraging.

Team's don't have "backup kickers" they pick someone up off the scrap heap if they have to

i'm liking the offense. it really reminds me of new england, spreading the ball around to different receivers, no-huddle, using the tight ends (hey, cmon, great catch by ryan, he just got popped by the linebacker), tight ends out of the backfield, 4 wideouts, etc

that being said, we need to get the running game going, because the intermediate routes won't be open all game, and we eventually need to hit a deep one

overall, i would give us a B, which is solid, and i am very very pleasantly surprised

The backup kicker is usually the punter - looks like he'd be a better bet at this point.

Chad is the most impressive guy in the game, he looks great. He has taken a couple hits but he is getting back up and standing in there and making plays. I know it's just one half but its clear what he brings to the offense.

D'Brick looks pretty good, in pass protection he is hoolding his ground.

I think the running game was just bad because they were trying to test Chad's arm so they were forcing passes. But hopefully it will open up in the second half. I don't necessarily think the running game will be all that strong anyways because we were getting totally stuffed out there.....but I hope it at least improves in the second half because Chad's is not infallible and if he does loft one up there and it gets picked, it could be a game changer....

But hey....14-0 and it looks like we have some offense so effin right....I am lovin' this

It's nice to have a head coach with a true football mind.

The scrapheap would be better than Nuge. I would even rather have Brien back, and that's really saying something. I know TBird is a fan of his, and I tried to give him a chance, but he sucks.

Yeah abyz, where's the noodle-arm jokes now?

As for his throwing into double-triple coverage, he is needling it in there. Precision, that is Chad's game, and always has been. I love it.

Ty Law wasn't all that great in hindsight. We should have had Dyson here before he went to Seattle. He is a very good corner, and he is proving it.

I agree that JMac has looked okay today. He is showing some guts, and is moving around without the "I crapped my pants" speed.

BTW: Way to shut down Young on that drive. And Young does not look that good. Thank you Mangini for not wasting that pick!

I've got to say also that Mr. Smith looks Pretty good at Receiver(for a QB).

Although, it looks real weird to see the #16 on anyone other than Vinny T.

    just weird.....

Nuge is pissing me off to no end. Really, what does he bring to the team that they couldn't get from any kicker in FA? What a waste of a 2nd round pick...he isn't even deserving of a 5th rounder. [/rant]

On the brightside, Chad is back! Also, Baker finally seems to be making use of his opportunities. I also love the defense so far (minus Barrett)...although the Titans QBs are helping them out mightily.

Good = play calling on the offense. Schott is doing a consistent job right now. Doing small gain, after small gain then going for the long pass. However, he's going to have to work out the running game. We need to be more consistent on that part.
One question. Is Schott doing his play calling on the field or in the booth?

Retire 88? How come Jets TEs in that jersey can't hold onto the football? Brady, Becht, Jolley, Ryan.
