Vince Young couldn't handle the pressure in Tennessee. I'd hate to see what would happen to him in New York...
Or he lost his job to Tebow when surrounded by better talent than what the Jets ended up fielding last year?
if signed to vet minimum, he could do better than suckchise since he has more talent. if not, you can cut him in camp like the bills did. rather take chance on him than quinn, orton, cassell, etc.
Manish just made reference again to Kolb potentially being a Jet if Arizona cuts him. And again, I wouldn't mind that at all.
You don't carry 4 QBs and I'm not sure roy could still be put on the practice squad. If they sign Kolb that somebody has to go.
I doubt any of that spaghetti sticks. We have to face the fact that we are like the majority of the NFL - waiting for an opportunity to draft a franchise signal caller. We can only hope that somehow we are able to nab a legit game manager by next season.
With the cardinals signing Stanton today its probably a good bet the Cards will cut Kolb tomorrow. If the Jets pick up Kolb its also a good bet if not a certainty Sanchez will be cut June 1. The question is if Sanchez is cut can he make another NFL roster? There are not many teams that he would be able to realistically compete for the 2 spot. The best thing for Sanchez would be to lock on with an established team with a good QB where he could sit for 3 or 4 years and learn without playing. With a Kolb signing we would go into camp with Kolb, Garrard, McElroy, Simms and whatever QB we draft. Certainly an upgrade over the last 4 years. Unfortunately for whomever wins the job they will be getting an OL in turmoil, possibly losing 2 guards, and a gutted defense. Even with a QB upgrade it could be a very long year.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Sources: #Cardinals expect to cut QB Kevin Kolb over the next few days. Due a roster bonus of $2M on March 17. He won't see that, I'm told I'd be happy with a Kolb, Garrard, Sanchez competition in TC.
Beat writer Manish Mehta expects the Jets to pursue Kevin Kolb once the Cardinals release him. Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg coached Kolb when his stock rose in Philadelphia. Mehta says that "if the price is right," Kolb will land with the Jets and be the Week 1 starter. Although only Mark Sanchez and David Garrard sit atop the depth chart now, that's a major leap. During two seasons in Arizona, Kolb has gone 6-8 as a starter and lost a 2012 training camp battle to John Skelton. Related: Jets Source: Manish Mehta on Twitter Mar 14 - 10:51 AM
He didn't lose to Skelton. They were undefeated under Kolb until he went out with an injury to his ribs, when Skelton took over. 2012 Regular Season Stats - 1169 yards / 59.6 Completion % / 8 TD / 3 INT / 86.1 QBR
