Concerning those who think Idzik being in Alabama means a trade won't happen... do you honestly think he just sits at a desk waiting for calls about revis?
I hear the Lions are interested in Revis. Might be pure fantasy, but if we could do Revis for Suh straight up, I'd take that deal in a second. Imagine if we convert to 4-3 base and have coples, ellis, suh, and wilkerson up front.
Unless some team makes a crazy move, this situation isn't going to get better. He wants way to money and the corner market is going in the opposite direction. The fact the jets aren't letting his agents speak to potential teams speaks volumes. The jets are aware if they get into the mix and start there bs demands there is no shot of a deal happening. Unless the jets get lucky, this is probably going to turn into a disaster ions situation. They have handled this so poorly
cell phones dont mean shit hes at a pro day hes doing other stuff. hes very busy. its not just a day to sit in the stands and eat hot dogs and drink beer, hes working...
"Hey John, it's Mark Dominick. I want to offer my first round pick and a late round pick for Revis" "Hold on Mark, I'll call you in a few hours. Despite having scouts and coaches here with me, I want to make sure they get Chance Warmack's correct cup size."
like i said, its not just a day for him to sit in the stands, hes doing other stuff. sure theres other people with him, but they are doing their jobs. if there were no need for him to be there, he wouldnt be there, hed be doing other stuff. it being crunch time for gms right now and all
if you have to eat 9-12 million to trade him --- just sign the guy and lock up both of your corners for the long term. the longer this goes the worse the trade market gets. Plus you have to pay his replacement so you will stay have to shell out over $10 million for a corner this year(just that most of the money isn't for a guy on the team)
Would love for him to stay but lets face...teams do not win or get to superbowls with the best player being a cornerback. Makes no sense to tie up money like that with that position. The Patriots figured out a long time ago that when he is on the field...they just play the other 3/4 of the field and ignore him. They draft 14 tight ends and make Revis insignificant.
How would you have handled the situation? I just don't see any particularly good options at this point. It's not like letting Revis agents talk to other teams would have worked any better than what has happened so far. With the franchise tag the Jets would have some leverage. Without it they just don't.
The thing that's sad is that this is all it really takes to beat the Jets defense at this point. A good QB and several good receiving options basically turns into a win for the other side. When the opponent has one receiver that just dominates in their offense the Jets have a shot but when they are facing a spread they roll over and die. This is because they don't have a pass rush to speak of and the only way they get pressure is by bringing defensive backs on a blitz - which gets destroyed by the spread.
let's be honest here. a Super Bowl win isn't a discussion to be had this year, even if we have Revis.
this is great...i've seen so many conflicting comments around here on the revis cap hit when in reality nobody knows what they are talking about. this should put that to rest.
I would agree to a 2nd this year with a 2nd next year with condintions of playing time and extras to bring that 2 to a 1st rounder.. YEAH I could live with that.
