http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...soccer-player-set-make-history-woman-NFL.html Lauren Silberman, 28, will kick at an NFL regional scouting combine Much more in the link.
Between the imminent signing of David garrard and her trying out, please sign her! Ohhh the locker room antics with a women on the team! Oh wait...we have two women if you include sanchez
Have you seen the vids of her trying kicks? She is HORRIBLE. I'd be shocked if she even has enough power to make a 35 yarder
I thought this was a Jets tryout but it's an NFL sponsored regional scouting combine that just so happens to be at their facility. The last thing the Jets need is more of a circus atmosphere and she's an f'in kicker. Non-story.
Hey she is not bad looking and I have nothing going on this Sunday, I just may watch this one kick the ball.
there's been buzz before about female kickers supposedly trying out for the NFL none of them ever got close to making it. They'd have to be really good for a team to even consider it.
No women could handle the shit storm that comes after missing a big kick in a playoff game for the jets. She would need therapy for the rest of her life
That is completely true. I imagine that we would see her crying on the sidelines. If Tebow is still on the team it might be a good signing, since he could cry with her.
This is a stupid comment. A woman can carry and give birth to a child, but wouldn't be able to handle the media asking questions after missing a FG in a football game? OK.
Lauren Silberman's kicking tryout at the Regional Combine lasted only two kicks today, the Associated Press reports. She then asked to see a trainer and left the practice field after injuring her quadriceps, and appeared to be slightly favoring her right leg. "They certainly didn't go as far as they were in practices," Silberman said, "but I tried to work through the pain." The 28-year-old Silberman said she hurt her quadriceps while preparing for the tryout earlier in the week, and attributed her struggles to that. "I tried staying off it and waited for today," she said. "I didn't even take kicks in warm-ups, and, it's pretty hard to know that you'll be in pain, and I wanted to work through it and I certainly tried to, but I just couldn't do it today." Silberman, a former club soccer player at Wisconsin and ex-graduate student at MIT, appeared frustrated she couldn't complete her tryout. "I've always been an athlete, and I've always been a gamer," she said while fighting back tears. "When I had the opportunity to be in the NFL, one of the world's most competitive leagues, I absolutely had to take the chance."
