http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2013/02/dwight_freeney_interested_in_b.html Apparently he may be interested in signing with us. What do you think (for those who may have watched him more extensively than I)?
nope. want younger guys with future upside, not older, over priced vets on the way down/out. that's what got tannybum fired. and, our cap messed up , besides the suckchise guaranteed fiasco.
If the colts let him go he is definently someone we should stay away from 1.)because he is a 10 plus year vet and 2.)His good days are behind him, colts are trying to get young too..explains why he is out of a job in the first place
just because he's interested in us, doesn't mean it's mutual. the Jets want younger players. plus, Freeney won't come cheap.
Give the playing time to a young player with some potential (even if it's a late draft pick). We're not a retirement home for old players rejected by their original teams. His better years are long gone. Otherwise, he'd still be on the Colts.
I listened to the whole interview he kinda was being nice from the tone of his voice..its funny how media bends shit to get a story..if he said no hes not interested that would be the other article....he wants to go to a team that has a shot at the title... we need to get younger and rebuild at that position--I would pass
hes only missed 2 games in the last 3 seasons dude and both of those games were last year. He recorded 10 sacks in 2010 and 8.5 in 2011 and just 5 last year. I wouldnt hate it if we signed him but we have bigger needs on offense, our pass rush is a joke but we are gonna end up drafting a DE/OLB with the num 9 pick so i say pass on him
I konw this is never done but woue love to see Freeney hifre as a payer inour 4-3 part time but also as an assititant line coach. Let him take some snaps plus patrol the sidelines coaching players for real money. Not just high fives but real sit down with diagrams and technique conversations designed to tutour young line into mini-freenys. his coach pay would be based on how w ell the line improves under his guidance from the trenches
Sign this (geriatric) beast! Seriously, we need to be getting younger and cheaper. Unless he comes for something approaching the veteran minimum, or he gets no playing offers and wants to coach, I don't think he's a great idea.
for vet min sure, show the new guys some pass rushing moves and bring some leadership for the young OLBs we'll bring in. Anythin more than vet min and "no thank you" though.
