Fairly accurate, but I dont agree that the Jets have to draft a pass rusher in the first two rounds.

The Jets scoring offense and passing offense were 30th in the league ( I think the article said 1 was 28th but it doesnt make it a whole lot better). They cant expect their defense (even if it notched 50 sacks) to hold teams to under 20 points if the defense is playing 2x many snaps as the offense. The Jets have to control the ball and T.O.P.

While the article says that they dont have the luxury to double dip at guard in the first two rounds, I disagree immensely and say that its almost necessary that they do (value of players available barring of course).

I would personally go with Chance Warmack and Barrett Jones (obv for his versatility as you could also you a RT). If the offensive line doesn't improve dramatically in this draft, you can expect the same result. Your defense ranked 8th in the league in total defense this season without Revis. That should tell you where you should focus your draft. I'm not saying defense isn't a need, but its not a priority.

And who are we going to get to fill the massive hole in the roster at OLB? Currently, Garrett McIntrye and Ricky Sapp are the starters. Ridiculous suggestion.

First of all, as far as I've heard no one has been cut yet. Cuts have only been planned. Not saying it wont happen, just why hasn't it happened yet? (to my knowledge)

Second, even if that serves to be the case (in terms of cuts), all I suggested was not taking one in the first 2 rounds. Not pass up on drafting one entirely.

Your offense has to be a priority this offseason because as you have seen in the last two years, it doesnt mean crap if you have a top 10 defense if your offense cant move the ball and score.

It was an interesting article that understated the effects of the cap issues the Jets have at this point. He's right that the Jets need to find the pass-rusher and that the talent in the draft stacks towards them doing that early.

Our run defense was 30th in the league. Is that enough proof that we need help on the defensive side of the ball? Not many 3rd round players are expected to come in and be number 1 on the depth chart.

Play calling and injuries were a factor in our very poor offense. If you look at individual players instead of units of offense and defense, every position on offense have players with experience of starting.

I'm only suggesting we go OLB in Round 1.

Very good article. So rare to read anything Jets that doesn't turn into butt-fumble, Tebow nonsense, or trying to stir up random crap with Rex.

Plenty of good points but I think WR should have been given more emphasis. Holmes is on his last year & I'm not positive Hill is gonna be able to step up. That would make Kerley the #1 WR going into 2014. Rookie WR is almost guaranteed to struggle, so grabbing rookie WR this draft would be a wise move.

    ++++++++++++
In the end, there's just so many damn holes on this roster that even if the draft is excellent, they're still starting the season with major weaknesses on the roster.

I think that this completely true, But we gotta start somewhere. We are not going to fix 3+ years of mistakes in one year, its going to take time. More and more I am torn going with Warmack or an OLB in the first. Warmack obviously is not a "sexy" pick by any means, but he is going to be a starter for 10+years at possibly a probowl level, and our guard play last year was terrible and both starter are UFA's like the article says.

OLB I think is the biggest need but, this draft is littered with them, but there seems to be a few question marks with all the prospects at OLB. I dont think that we have the luxury of missing on any first round picks anymore.

my Ideal first two rounds would be

    1. Warmack
    2. Lacy, Ball or Bernard

    or

    1. OLB (Jones, Mingo, Jordan, or Ansah)
    2. OL (Warford or Fluker)

The best way to help improve our Defense is to fix an Offense with a propensity to put the Defense in terrible situations.

I'm not saying you don't need help on D. What I am saying is that it wont matter if you get help on D if your offensive line (specifically) cant block and as a result the offense cant stay on the field, resting the D, and score points.

From what I have seen, you need 2 G and a RT. Austin Howard is a stop gap and thats being generous. Moore is too old and the combo of Slauson/Ducasse is pretty terrible. Not to mention Moore and Slauson I believe are FA. The entire offensive line needs to be restructured basically.

I disagree but this discussion is just going round in circles.
