I'm down for this idea as well  We need a flashy back that can catch passes out of the backfield. Then, we have Greene to change the pace and pound up the middle, late in games and late in seasons/ post season (where he excels). The running game has to get going for our pass attack to have any hope. O-line and solid running game will get the Jets back in flight.
I would LOVE Reggie Bush over here. Makes unbelievable cuts and is fast. Great for WCO. I would go after him for the right price if I was Idzik
No offense to anyone, but we need to not hand out a free agent contract to any RB until we get a QB who can utilize them. That said, I'm not opposed to drafting a RB. I just don't want to burn cap money on someone who doesn't advance the bigger picture.
Old news. Jason Taylor was on the Jets, remember? Reggie Bush, there is no hesitation. Get back to NYJ football, Ground 'n pound.
We have arsenal of receivers that he can't get the ball too. handing it off shouldn't be that difficult. ...but you are right when it comes to throwing a simple screen pass, forggettabouit.
This isn't about Sanchez. It's about cap management and long term direction. Teams don't become Super Bowl contenders by recycling other teams leavings. Certainly not at positions that are frequently highly impacted by the draft like RB.
I wouldn't consider Bush recycling. He's a game changer on the field right now. I agree about Bradshaw though, vet minimum or have a nice day I think it's pretty simple to become competitive again on offense. Get the running game going and the passing attack will come. We need a running game badly. We need to be able to execute a screen pass and we need to be able to achieve misdirection, counters, traps to get to play action pass.
You don't want a guy if he took less money to come here because of the convenience factor? I'd rather have that than just have to pay through the nose to get someone. It's not like the majority of FA's go where they want to anyway, most will go for the most money. Some will play with an ex-coach/system they've been in.
Apparently we are intrested if he comes cheap, Id like to have him. He is good enough to make the running game good again.Bradshaw/Powell/Mcknight/ i like that lineup
Like almost everyone said, if he wants to come here cheap, why not. It would address a need at the moment, especially if Greene goes.
Yeah that's a terrible reason not to get someone and not 100% true. It said he was interested in not moving his family. So yeah he could come here cheaper than somewhere else. And in fact, the case that nobody wants them is not an indicator of whether or not a player will be successful for us. The system we have + what we need Bradshaw to do is probably different than most others teams in the league. Then there are teams that would want the player, but don't have room or other needs. There's a lot more going behind the scenes than all other 31 teams didn't want him.
If he comes cheap, who gives a shit if he is a free agent veteran? We are looking for someone who is proven to be a breakout RB and someone who can be a factor in the WCO. Bradshaw definitely fits the bill. Yes he is older and yes teams that have a great RB used the draft, but there is no way in hell we fill EVERY hole we have right now through the draft and young talent. Use McKnight and Powell more and put a guy like Bradshaw in the mix and you have an above average running game. Possibly great. Fill the other holes and if you like, draft a young RB that will compete and prove himself worthy enough. Until then, we need holes filled. I guarantee you, they all can not be filled with young talent in a year.
