OK, OK, I know this must have been referenced in another post (please close if so) http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...ets-to-cut-bart-scott-calvin-pace-jason-smith
It surprised me that Davis didn't get more playing time towards the end of last year as Scott being gone seemed like a foregone conclusion. Add that to the fact that Scott sucks and it seemed like a no brainer. Rex sticking with Sanchez so long isn't the only misstep he has made. He should have found out what he had with Davis and other guys who may end up starting this year. Now he is pegged as a starter and it would be nice for him to have had the extra reps.
Thank god they will be cut next is Eric Smith and any other unproductive player we need talent, style, smarts and composure.
From what I read from the beat writers, Davis was not picking up the schemes drawn up for certain situations. Scott was not as athletic but he was always where he was supposed to be scheme-wise. Hopefully this year he makes the adjustments and knows the system to play well.
Sure. I thought about that too. But I also have seen Bart get burned bad in coverage and he led all linebackers this year in missed tackles if I remember the stat correctly. It just seems like an instance of pick your poison to me and once it seemed the season was down the drain it would be better to have the rookie out of place and learning from his mistakes on the fly. That is why I suggest that maybe Rex is either too loyal to his guys or was too stubborn to realize that the Jets weren't going to make any noise towards the tail end of the year.
