i guess my dad and his friends were all real pumped about boomer esaison coming to the jets so we went to hofstra training camp and met all the guys on the team and got their autographs and stuff. i had just turned 5 years old, so boomer became my favorite player because of this. when i started playing football a couple years later my dad got me a jersey with number 7 and my name on the back in my teams colors for practices (i was always a lineman). so basically, my jet fandom was born in heartbreak i guess haha.

Ha, same here although mine are born. Two boys, 5 and 3 and even the 3 year old knows to do the chant when he sees the Jets logo. I mean, I feel kinda bad for doing this to them, but at the same time I don't....

I was watching football when I was 5 and my brother is a huge Steelers fan. Freeman Mcneil ran in a score against them to win the game. I rubbed it in my brothers face and ever since then I have been cursed.

No one in my family had any interest in football. But I became a fan because as a kid I was always interested in fighter aircraft. When I started watching football I picked the Jets because of the name and not knowing if they were good or bad.

Born in Long Island, I was/am a rabid Met's fan. So it made perfect sense to root for the Jets to complete 12 month's of frustration.

(And I also grew up an Islanders fan to complete the trifecta)...

My dad grew up on Long Island and loved Joe Namath. He raised me in Giants country (Middletown, NJ) but I grew up loving my day's team. The Sack Exchange hooked me to be honest and that is what it is.

    Mostly from my Dad.
The memories of Dad, me and my brothers watching and cheering through the
the Raiders rivalry, the Heidi game, SB 3, Broadway Joe and George Sauer
(my all time favorite Jet) cemented me to a life time of gloom and joy.

The Isles won 4 cups in the 80's. If you were a Rags fans then there's your "trifecta"

It was a game against my favorite team at the time the Houston Oilers at Shea Stadium. It was 1980 and the Jets went up 28-0 and were the underdog. Ken Stabler and the Oilers came back to tie the game. The Jets won on a Pat Leahy FG to win the game 31-28. From then on I was a Jet fan.

When NFL was first shown on UK TV back in 1982 for some reason I decided to follow the Jets. I loved the uniform and Gastineau and Walker were my heroes.
I remember being massively disappointed at the Mud Bowl and particularly the 1986 season.
Little did I know how many times I'd be disappointed in the coming years.
Still I wouldn't change a thing, I love this team and last year actually got to go to Cortland and see the team at training camp in person, followed by a trip to MetLife for the Giants pre-season matchup. I'll never forget those experiences and am happy to say I'm a Jets fan for life.

    Great shout Marty,

Follower from the uk, surprised to see so many Jets at Wembley for the Rams v Pats game in October. Pleased we were well numbered and quite visible.

I've been a UK fan since started watching in about 84

    Still keeping the faith
