Ever since Curtis Martin retired, the classiness of the Jets retired as well

You really have a vendetta against Tebow (or is it his annoying fans).

Sick of hearing about how people miss the days of Martin, Chrebet, Pennington etc and bitch about Rex, Sanchez, Holmes etc.

I guarantee you all in 10 years will be miss the days of Rex and Sanchez. When I lurked this board in 2008, all anyone ever talked about was 1998, and that was 10 years later.....I hope for most of your guys sake, in the year 2020 we arent recollecting how we were a stop away in Pittsburgh because in 2008 and early 2009 all anyone talked about was the 10-0 lead in Denver.

I agree about the current org being classless, but I don't think Curtis Martin's absence in the cause. The change is the sale from Leon Hess (or rather the Hess family after his death) to Woody Johnson. Hess ran the Jets as a classy organization. I was proud that we didn't have cheerleaders. I've always thought that was a bogus concept that had nothing to do with professional football and entirely sexist.

Enter Woody Johnson, a man whose very name is synonymous with 'dick'. He brings in cheerleaders, screws the fans royally, and turns the Jets into a circus. He is running this team into the ground. This is particularly sad given that the Jets had finally become a winning organization in the '90s. I think we are on a decline and the more I learn about Woody the less I like him.

If only I have an extra billion dollars. I guess I need to start saving....

Running this organization into the ground? damn 2 years ago you were all sucking his dick along Mr. T.

You fans are just to demanding. You all act like these failures occured behind the scene, when in fact it occurred in front of your own 2 eyes (failing to tackle mendanhall...)

You do realize next to the SB III season, '98 was probably the best team the Jets ever had, right? Were there titles in between fans should have been discussing?

2 division titles since the AFL/NFL merger. 0 AFC tiles. 0 SB titles. What were fans supposed to brag about soxxx. Enlighten us.

Most of that is linked to Tannenbaum. That guy was notorious for telling the media that we were planning to keep players and then cutting them a week later. I don't remember him saying Cotchery would compete for the starting job, though.

You really think the Brett Favre thing had to do with the Jets organization corrupting him and wasn't just a poor decision made by him?

    Allegedly means nothing.

Rex Ryan talking about his wife's nice feet means nothing.

Who the fuck even cares about Tebow snaps? The media blew that crap WAY out of proportion. Rex vaguely answered that Tebow COULD see up to 20 snaps a game before they had even had a single practice together. Key word "COULD". It's not like he guaranteed that Tebow would play that much, he was just estimating but the media and stupid Teboners took it to heart. It obviously didn't work that well, so he saw fewer snaps as the year went on. A bad coach wouldn't care that something wasn't working and would stick with it, just to satisfy the fans or the media, but that is not conducive to winning. Faulting Rex for that is like faulting the Michelin man when your tire blows out after hitting a pot hole.

Also lying to the media or saying the PC thing isn't the same as lying to a player. Before decisions are made, Tannenbaum would just say the proper thing to the media to avoid throwing people under the bus. Remember Tanny was a cap guy and was strictly business. Remember his talk with Kellen Clemons on hard knocks? He had to work a multi million dollar deal with Revis, but jacked him for pennies. Money over people should be his motto.

You want the organization to have more class? Stop posting classless junk like this. Besides, I'll take winning over "class" any day but we have plenty of classy players.. unfortunately we have a LOT of classless fans. In the famous words of Arnold, "STOP WHINING!!!" We just got a new GM, and things might just turn around. Bad timing on this.

this post says most of it. Woody and most fans didn't like Mangini cold business approach. Woody got the opposite person in Rex, fast and lose, a frat kinda guy who Woody and the players can be buddies with. I can see from the perspective of if I owned a team I'd want someone who enjoys football not dower Belechek kinda guy. Only problem Rex has his own set of problems, mainly he lacks discipline and respect that's needed as a HC.

The rest of the other stuff turns me off too. Part of it is that's just how the NFL does business every player and franchise for themselves. We've put more emphasis on talent vs character.

Stop it, that's such a myth. Our guys don't get in trouble off the field, we've had 2 incidents in the last 5-6 years while other teams constantly have issues.

I'm so sick of the myth of class, b/c a team talks doesn't mean they don't have class.

  13. I couldn't care less about being "Class".Winning is all that matters.

In fact..the way the media, the league & opposing fan bases have treated this team over the years...I don't mind the villian persona. Nice guys finish last. It's the Jets vs. everyone else.

yeah the giants are all class, guys shoot themselves in nightclubs, teammates cover it up, multiple drunk driving arrests, owner makes fun of another team after they win, team sends out tweets to make fun of another team. All class!

    arrests under current HCs:

Giants under Coughing: 10 in 9 seasons
Jets under Rex: 2 in 4 seasons

I'm sure the Giants were much more classy while being arrested.

they always are. Braylon had a beard when he was arrested so clearly he was not showing class.

Players come and go the organization is the owner and management. There are always going to be players who are less then stellar in the way they conduct themselves. The problem the Jets have as an organization under Woody is they haven't created a high standard for any length of time at the management level. Edwards and Mangini tried but both weren't good enough in their respective jobs to pull it off.

i love the jets. but, that said, this team has become pretty unlikeable and a bit of an embarrassment. i'm sure a lot of my negativity just has to do with the team sucking for the past couple years. but i don't mind the mets losing, cuz i like the direction they're going and the players are home grown and seem to care. the jets lose less than the mets - relatively - but i like the mets more.

anyhow, let's go jets. i hope they turn it around

Funny seeing this thread. On Wednesday I happened to re-watch Curtis' HOF speech. If anyone out there hasn't seen it, get to youtube IMMEDIATELY.
Not only did Curtis display class as a Jet, but he is truly one of the most intelligent, humble, focused and resilient people I've ever heard of. The world could use alot more Curtis Martin's. He's the kind of person you hope your son grows up to become.

Now, on the other hand, we have Santonio Holmes ...
