I think we will see Tebow with the Jags next season. I think Caldwell just came out and said he didn't want Tebow for 2 reasons? 1. He doesn't want to be answering questions all off season about Tebow. Which we all know if he ducked that question that all he would be asked. 2. He didn't want the Jets to know they want him and the Jets start to put rumors out that they may keep him or somebody else is asking about him. So they don't have to trade anything for him. Now with all that said I still believe Gabbert will be the starter come week 1. If Gabbert doesn't improve they throw Tebow in there to sale tickets and MAYBE just MAYBE he could end up being there future starting QB. The Jags are in rebuilding mode now and there would be no better way for the owner to make money by having Tebow on there roster.
Great, thanks for the vote of confidence. I think you're wrong. Not that Tebow has a future in the NFL. I believe he does. But I think you're wrong about the Jags. Caldwell shut the door very hard on the idea of Tebow coming to Jacksonville next year. Didn't leave it open even a crack as far as I'm concerned. I think he was stupid to do so, but I also think their previous GM was stupid to not draft Tebow and then to stick with Gabbert when Tebow came available last year. By the way, no team, even the Jags, is going to "sale" many tickets just because Tebow is on the roster. People aren't coming to games to watch Tebow or any other player they're a fan of sit on the bench or hold a clipboard. The only way they're making any kind of money on long-term ticket sales is if he plays. Period.
Agreed. Sounded like a pretty vehment "NO" to me. Caldwell simply wants to take the team in his own direction. I doubt he wants to roll the dice on an inept passer and go with style Tebow can play in. But I don't agree having Tebow on the team wouldn't sell tickets. Jags pulled the tarps for their upper decks and reportedly had a bigger turnout than usual. Could be a homecoming thing, but people will come out in droves with their painted signs to show support and beg the coaches for more playing time. ...cuz he sure as hell isn't going to get the playing time with the great job he does in practices.
That is what happens when the door is left open for hope. Keeps people disappointed. There's a .0008% chance Caldwell was lying, so keep the faith Tebow fans!!! Some Tebow fans are at least smart enough to spit that hook out of their mouth. He ain't gonna be a Jag.
That's because people buying those tickets thought Tebow might actually play in the game. If they had known he wouldn't, I guarantee you they don't sell all those extra tickets.
obviously you... why else would you come to the Tebowmania section, then click on a thread about Tebow... to comment that you've had enough of Tebow. Are you masochistic?
The Jags owner is a competent guy who let his GM do whatever he wants. The GM wants to succeed. A circus is not good for a football team's performance. Did you not just see what happens when a circus (ESPN and ignorant Tebots) comes to town? I don't mind crappy Jets seasons, but their real fans do and the circus involving Tebow needs to get out of town...He has no value. First round pick to traded for a low picks to nothing.
I do not care what anyone says Tebow really is a miracle worker ! Here we have a Dolphins fan on a Jets forum defending Jets fans , it's freaking beautiful man . dolphins fans loving jets fans, jets fans loving Dolphins fans , imagine what Tebow could do in the middle east.....
Don't care where he ends up or what football league he is playing in. As long as he doesn't give in and convert to a different position. Stick to your guns, Tebow... or quit football.
I agree, I don't Tebow is any good but I believe he deserved a shot because of the body of work he did in 2011. If he want to be a QB, than say I want to be a QB and NOTHING ELSE..(say no to PP). If no give him a chance, just retire, don't convert because it deems you for having "no backbone".
Easy for you to say when it isn't YOUR career. I'd actually admire him more if he did. recognize limitations and change accordingly. Don't go down a sinking ship just because you are too stubborn and proud to admit you are in over your head. What a waste of other good football talent...
You'd admire him for giving in to people like you? I'd lose respect for him. If he had a losing record as a QB and no success, then perhaps I'd agree with you. Fact is, Broncos with Tebow = same end result as Broncos with Manning. Divisional round loss in the playoffs. Yeah... no need to play RB or TE.
Honestly, if the Jets are going to "Blow it up" why not try to stay? I'm mean, they might cut Sanchez June 1st and maybe he could win the QB job here. He will probably lose a lot of games though. Long shot to say the least.
Under NFL rules, even if the Jags do want Tebow they can't say so. He's under contract to another team. Any public statements other than what they've said would amount to interfering with another team's player. That could draw fines and other punishments from the League. It might even block any possible trades. So you can't really read anything into the situation yet. Wait until the trading period re-opens and see what happens then...
this is where you are wrong. every g.m. in the league gives the standard " he is under contract, if he becomes available we will discuss his viabiltiy to this team. until then we won't discuss any player under contract" this leaves the g.m with options. caldwell salmmed the door on any possible tebow talk. it was smart too, kill it quickly and get on with the work at hand. but you are holding out your hope because this was pretty much his last/best shot at being an nfl qb. its either position chnge or the c.f.l. now
